No one can replace him obviously. I can see it being Henderson as captain, Lallana and another as his vices.Originally posted by tanner View PostI don't think any of them are fit to lace Gerrards boots tbh, however, I have a feeling that going forward, Can will be the man to lead this side, but that will be a few years away.

It'd be nice to have a vocal captain - specifically when communicating with the ref.
I think our team is too nice at times - Don't take any crap from opposing players and make your feelings known to the ref. He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

FSG should use their influence to get Strootman.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostForget Strootman, he's going to LVG.
Some of Roma's owners are on FSG's Boston Red Sox ownership group.
At the minimum they should ensure he doesn't go to the Mancs

How do you figure that? He has only played 69 minutes of football this season as he was out for most of the season to date due to an injury he picked up before the world cup.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

The first point is why the captain should be someone who has played in this league a while, understands how the refs work and who can actually speak English.Originally posted by Keyser Soze View PostIt'd be nice to have a vocal captain - specifically when communicating with the ref.

That rules out a lot of players mentioned in this thread. It should and will be Henderson. Lallana would be my second choice. Speaks very well & is a natural leader, it's just so obvious in the way he conducts himself. But the captain should be an automatic choice and to my mind that's Henderson.Forwards.......

When Gerrard goes I would imagine who is an automatic pick will change. Henderson has to the favourite at the minute but we can afford to wait until the summer to worry about it I think."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You answered your own question.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostHow do you figure that? He has only played 69 minutes of football this season as he was out for most of the season to date due to an injury he picked up before the world cup.
He's played 69 minutes of football this season, 9 months out with knee ligament damage.
Okay my post wasn't very clear but surely nobody would want us to risk such a large sum when we're failing FFP currently.Vive la France

Yes but your post said that he had struggled badly this season. As he had not played at all in the first three or so months of the season he did no such thing.
As for him being a risk. Well of course he would be, but the on pitch ability that he has shown for club and country pre-injury suggests he is, when fit, a high level performer and he is one that would tick almost all the boxes for us in midfield.
I do not think we will get him though as I think a club with more money than us will buy him either in this window or in the summer. I am just hoping that club does not turn out to be the Mancs because he is exactly the kind of player that could immediately improve their first team as well.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I posted this in the Dons post match thread but thought I'd put it in here too. He does produce chances for team mates. Would like to see him bury a few more before the end of the season. Natural leader.
Steven Gerrard's goals stole the headlines as Liverpool edged AFC Wimbledon in an entertaining FA Cup third round clash.
Yet fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson's industrious display was every bit as crucial to Liverpool's 2-1 win, and showed why he is in the view of many a candidate at least to one day become club captain.
The England international led the way with 106 touches of the ball, more than any other player on the pitch.
Barring one game against Aston Villa this season in which he had 136 touches, it was higher than in any match he has played this season.
Henderson also performed strongly from a creative perspective, putting his time on the ball to good use. He made five key passes, the highest in the Liverpool team, more than Coutinho (4) and Steven Gerrard (2).
The midfielder was less productive in front of goal, failing to hit the target with each of his two attempts on goal.
To be regarded like Gerrard he will need to become more clinical in this area, but attempting to create the success the club captain has had is an impossible task.
If Henderson continues to work hard at what he is good at, and keeps creating chances then the plaudits will soon head his way too.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
