I'd make Salah captain. He wants it and Trent won't have to wait long to take over.

Jones is a local lad if that is some sort of criteria for the role, he has 1970s scouse hair and every now and then he makes a start on a Yosser Hughes type tache.
Proper scouser from Toxy too, not a West Derby posh boy like TAA

If it is indeed a mins guarantee, I don't think we can give him that as he's just not good enough anymore. I'm sure he could still have a role but imo he cannot be captain if he isn't a mainstay and with the way we want and need to play, he isn't what is required to be a mainstay. It is very inconvenient timing. I'm sure he could go to several other clubs that might not pay him treble his wages but at least he won't be selling his and legacy... oh and he still be very very very rich as will his children and his children's children.Last edited by danperkins; 16-07-23, 10:41 PM.

I think the timing is ideal.
He is on the decline, he won't be a regular starter, he's on massive money, and he's not going to be the influential on the pitch captain we need.
It would be awkward to drop him as captain so maybe this is an easy way to deal with the issue.
Obviously it means we need to quickly sort some additional cover, with henderson, fabinho, and also possibly thiago on their way out. It's not like henderson has been making a massive contribution! The same for thiago given his lack of availability...
Fabinho is really the only one we would have kept, but his iffy season last year suggests we've had the best of his years and it's time to move him on.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Szobozlai is Henderson’s replacement - we need to replace Fab nowOriginally posted by baitman View PostI think the timing is ideal.

The framing is ridiculous. He might lower his wage demands so the joke shop club he wants to join can afford to buy him. So he can leave, not so we get a fee.
This ****show, and the public bull**** during his contract renewal, makes me think his advisors are dicks, but he’s also bright enough to know what’s going on. Makes the whol mr nice guy shtick seem like a contrivance.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I dunno... I reckon its bollocks.
If we sold both that would mean our entire midfield is u23 (apart from Thiago who is not reliable).
We would need a top class DM and an old head to replace both, imho.
We do need to. replace Fab, so that works if a teplacement is availble, albiet a couple of years earlier that his expiry date.
Hendo is harder, as we would technically need to sign a homegrown to replace him in the squad. I just think to not do so would leave our midfield looking a bit inexperienced, even if a lot of the players are quite mature. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

and add to the fact that he isn’t contributing on the pitch I think it’s very much in our best interests to move him on and get new voices to point and shout
