I'd rather not say to be honest.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWhere did you hear he's looking more money?
Shaggy, Warrs, Chazza plus others on here will vouch for me in that I don't make anything up if you need it.
We offered him a contract, it remains unsigned because he wants more money.
Keep in mind that before Flanno got into the team last season he was available for loan, that is public knowledge.
No-one could afford to take him on loan because of his wages from the deal Kenny gave him.
I'm not claiming to be an insider or any of that bollocks, don't (want to) know any of the figures or details just that it is about money. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Have to say, I'm pretty shocked. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

i would definately keep flanagan. However, i agree with you - he can't have crazy money. In reality he should get maybe a 2 year deal with the option of a 3rd on LFCs side.........with the promise that if he has a good season next year then he will get a proper nice contract. In reality he hasnt kicked a ball all year so he needs to prove his fitness now...

If he would have been fit this season he may have had a point, the 1st choice RB slot is up for grabs with Johnson leaving but as you say he hasn't kicked a ball in so long. Its also not like its his first injury or he's had 2/3 years under his belt, he needs to remember no club wanted to take him on loan not so long ago if he were to leave us it would be mid/low table team.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI'd rather not say to be honest.

I like Flanno, I like the idea of keeping a scouser in the first team but the club has worked hard to gain control of our wage structure (which I believe was a really high % of our revenue, higher than United's) we won't and shouldn't bend for him.Vive la France

We're not talking peanuts and I know it's all relative to what you're used to earning but he's just turned 22, sign a 4 year deal which will be circa 20k a week, get your head down, play regularly over the next 2 seasons and sign another, bigger, better one at 24/25 when you've earned it.
I would bet we've offered him the same deal that he's currently on with good appearance money and increases to his basic every x amount of games.
They will be looking for it all loaded into a basic wage, scouse or not he's done **** all to deserve a bumper deal.
Wisdom has played twice as many 1st team games than Flanno, Manquillo about 10 less.
Imagine the outrage if either of those were running their contract down asking for more money instead of it being a scouser. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

This is from November 2013
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admits he is undecided what to do with Jon Flanagan, with a loan move mooted.

The promising full-back made his senior breakthrough in 2010/11, but has struggled to nail down regular involvement since then.
He was drafted back into the fold for Saturday's Merseyside derby, and impressed as Liverpool and Everton played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.
That outing was only Flanagan's second of the season, with Jose Enrique and Aly Cissoko providing more experienced options at left-back.
Rodgers is, however, prepared to admit that Flanagan has played his way back into contention and may no longer need to look for a short-term deal away from Anfield in the New Year.
He said in the Liverpool Echo: "He needs to play football. But if he plays like he played today, he is going to get football.
"It's been remarkable, really, that we haven't had any clubs come in to take him on loan. We will always facilitate the wages, but we have had just one club come in for him, and that was a League One club. He's a young player that needs to play.
"There have been a couple of enquiries about him, but nothing concrete. I just felt that I needed to have him about, and in the end I needed him to play in the Arsenal game.
"He's done brilliantly, and that gives me something to think about."
On the England U21 international's performance against Everton at Goodison Park, Rodgers added: "Jon Flanagan was immense.
"A young kid from the city, given the chance to play in a derby game that will be on Sky Gold in about 30 years' time, and given the chance because of his desire to put himself out there every day."
I've hijacked the Skrtel thread a bit so will leave it there except to say I still think Skrtel is gash and I'd love Flanno to stay. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
