It's probably just agent talk, to 'focus the mind' of LFC in contract negotiations, and has been whipped up by media outlets desperate for their daily story aimed at getting Liverpool supporters to click through or buy the paper or whatever.
In other words, nothing has happened yet so I suggest we all calm down..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Which is what Arsenal, Spurs (and us to an extent) in recent years have done.

Yep, totally agree. And whilst Skrtel as an isolated transfer may make sense at £20m, the recent history of selling our better players would send out all the wrong signals.Originally posted by JohnOK View PostI understand that no player is bigger than LFC but as soon as you start selling your best players to teams like City you are effectively saying they are a bigger club and setting a precedent for them buying your players in the future.
I say we either keep him, or if we sell bring in a better higher profile player. £25m for Skrtel? Ok, well lets take that and add the extra £5m and convince Hummels of or future plans and sign him up. £5m net spend and an instant improvement and a player more suited to teh type of football we want to play.
If not, tell City where to go (which is usually Arsenal).

Isn't Hummels meant to be a bit ****e? £30m for a defender seems rather high and highly risky. And is he really an improvement on Skrtel given he has just been named our player of the year?Originally posted by Tee View PostYep, totally agree. With the number of injuries (and length of ban) to our important players I would say last year was probably one of the most unsatisfying times to win that accolade.Originally posted by saj View PostIsn't Hummels meant to be a bit ****e? £30m for a defender seems rather high and highly risky. Not that he didn't deserve it.One tit for another.

23 years old and the lynchpin for ze Germans defence. Key player by all accounts with a massive future - fits the profile for what we should be looking for. But alas, it is only a dream signing and we will probably end up with that ex-Birmingham CB who got relegated with Blackburn (forgot his name soz).Originally posted by saj View PostIsn't Hummels meant to be a bit ****e? £30m for a defender seems rather high and highly risky.
