I understand that no player is bigger than LFC but as soon as you start selling your best players to teams like City you are effectively saying they are a bigger club and setting a precedent for them buying your players in the future.

Well that's it, we have no idea who Rodgers would be interested in.. I don't mean this as a dig but I've got a feeling it's going to come across that way. I'd honestly fear if Kenny was still here and Skrtel was leaving for £20m.

If it helps funding a top striker or winger then why not, we still have Kelly who is proving his worth at full back and yet should be a CB or Coates who's a Uruguayan international CB with a years worth of settling in time with Carra as back up and Wisdom getting wisdom in the ressies.

Don't get me wrong I think he's been excellent this year and would be sad to see him go but no one is irreplaceable.

Alonso > Adam
Torres > Carroll
Mascherano > Poulsen> Wee Jay

We wouldn't have a prayer of signing him.

23 years old and the lynchpin for ze Germans defence. Key player by all accounts with a massive future - fits the profile for what we should be looking for. But alas, it is only a dream signing and we will probably end up with that ex-Birmingham CB who got relegated with Blackburn (forgot his name soz).

His main position is central defender, but does enjoy coming from the back four to start attacks for his team. He has been employed as a defensive midfielder when he played for the German national youth teams. Mats Hummels has very good technique in the tackle and often out-muscles his opponents with his strength and height. He also has the pace to catch up with fast opponents and win the ball back. His reading of game is one of his main strengths, often frustrating his opponents with his well-timed interceptions and long passing capability. Hummels' style of play with the sweeper-like quality has been compared to the likes of the great German defender Franz Beckenbauer.
