I think Kelly is a promising full back, I don't think he is anywhere near playing centre back.
Coates will be above Kelly, on the Skrtel front if Man C do want him they have previous for over paying for players with 1-2 years left on their contract so we should get £8-10m for him
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

And no prize for guessing which two syllables need emphasising.

          CLUE: It's not 'oxy'.

But i didn't say he was an old style English CB, so everyone is wrong except for me

No offence, Dane old chap, but if we've got a choice between you knowing what you meant and dww knowing what you meant, well, I don't need to spell it out further, do I?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

He is one of the most talented CBs out there and if he were in little more profiled club he whould have been considered one of top 5 CBs in the world.

Bayern is still banging their head against the wall for letting him go.

Signing Hummels would be some statement of intent.

I think Kelly will surprise a few people if he moves into centre back. In my opinion its the opposite. I don't think full-back is his natural position and its surprising how well he has coped there. I think when he is moved to centre-back is when we will really see his ability.

Not sure Kelly is good enough in the air at the moment. If Skrtel is sold then Agger/Coates should be the first choice partnership next season.

Martin Skrtel: Liverpool FC must show me their ambition matches mine

                        Jun 22 2012

MARTIN SKRTEL would be happy to turn down interest from Manchester City this summer – provided he gets assurances from new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers that Liverpool FC can match his own personal ambitions.

Champions City are preparing to lure the Slovakian defender to the Etihad Stadium.

The Reds have not received an official bid yet for a man voted Player of the Season at Anfield, but Anfield officials are aware of City’s interest.

The player’s agent Karol Cstonto, however, said: “Some changes have been made at the club and he (Martin Skrtel) wants to know what the aims and ambitions are. And of course, we will discuss the issue of Martin’s new contract.

“Liverpool is a big club and just because they haven’t made the Champions League this year doesn’t mean they would not do it next year.

“There are expectations on both sides, though.”

Roberto Mancini is keen to bolster the champions’ defensive options – with Stefan Savic struggling when called upon last term and AC Milan target Thiago Silva priced at £35m, a fee prohibitive even for City.

Liverpool would be loathe to lose the 27-year-old, but need an indication from Skrtel that he is prepared to commit himself to the club.

Skrtel has two years remaining on his present Anfield contract and was in no hurry to talk about an extension last season.

But that could change, provided Skrtel gets the assurances from manager Rodgers that he is seeking.

This. It's a critical weakness in his game that opponents have used against us in his early games for us. Hard to say its improved given his lack of games last season, but until he improves this aspect, he may have trouble at CB.

The trouble is it seems to often be a trait best honed by competitive match play. I think a year or two ago people were equally critical of Skrtel in that aspect. That said I'm not sure why people think that because Kelly played CB at youth level that is his best/natural position now. For example Carragher started as a midfielder/forward as a youth IIRC, I don't think people have advocated he reverts since his call up to the first team.

Imagine Carragher upfront! Might as well have kept Brouwer!

Kelly isnt physically imposing enough to play at centre half at the moment.
