The last point is definitely correct. The club always have to move on. It doesn't mean it is a good way for things to be going. for most teams that have to consistently sell players from the first team it doesn't go as well as it has for Arsenal."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is aware of the speculation surrounding his future, but insists he has received no approach for his services.
Transfer gossip continues to suggest that the Slovakia international is a summer target for Premier League champions Manchester City.
Roberto Mancini is said to have set his sights on the Slovakia international as he looks to reinforce his back four.
Skrtel, who joined Liverpool in 2008, has previously stated that it is his intention to remain at Anfield.
He says he is not about to waver in that stance, with no contact having been made by any of the supposedly interested parties.
Rumours
"In the press there have been rumours about my future," Skrtel said on his personal website.
"I would like to say that so far I have not received any specific offers and I have not been in talks with any club."
Skrtel is currently back in his homeland preparing for the new season, and he is convinced that the 2012/13 campaign will be a productive one for Liverpool - as they begin life under new boss Brendan Rodgers.
He said: "I'm looking forward to the new season very much and believe we will be well prepared for it and it will be better than the last one."

Yup.
He had the perfect platform - and the perfect opportunity - to say:
"In the press there have been rumours about my future, I would like to say that so far I have not received any specific offers and I have not been in talks with any club. I am happy at Liverpool and will be playing at Anfield next season."
Instead, he's left it open for interpretation, the rumours will continue and his agent can carry on getting his chat on.
Thus, quite clearly, he is leaving this summer. Smileyface. Stir.Last edited by Muddled; 28-06-12, 03:25 PM.

It'd have been a good opportunity for him to say that he wants to stay though. Not that words mean anything these days.

For any of our players that are getting itchy feet I wonder how they view the Torres situation. Do they look at him and think that only one year after leaving he is a CL winner so made the right decision? Or do they look at his miserable bake and think maybe silverware isn’t the be all and end all in football and that the grass isn’t always greener? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Tru fax. And extremely possible. On both points.Originally posted by Lee View PostUnless he did say that and the quotes have been cut from the article.

He could have said he's staying and still left a la Torres anyway.
Twitter, the site that Bender posted that article from (aren't we supposed to provide linkage BTW?), the internets and now (potentially) official player sites (that may have been edited, but then I can't say I have *ever* read his site) ... I mean, what can we believe these days?
The Official, Beeb and the Echo or it isn't happening, in my opinion.

I'd guess it's probably the latter for the majority.Originally posted by RedReet View PostFor any of our players that are getting itchy feet I wonder how they view the Torres situation. A sweeping generalisation granted, but I think the above are so self-obsessed that the joy that football used to bring has long-gone (kinda) and it's purely about their medal collection.
Quite clearly on a similar leve,l I admit to travelling to a nearby city to play for a more successful Sunday league team, thus speaking from experience.

Napoli joins Man City in race to sign Liverpool defender
Italian club, Napoli, have joined Premier League champions, Manchester City in the race to sign unsettled Liverpool defender, Martin Skrtel.
Reports in Italy indicate that Napoli are willing to test the Anfield occupants with a substantial offer after cashing in on their prolific striker Ezekiel Lavezzi who signed for League 1 club Paris Saint Germaine.
The Slovakia international has previously expressed his dissatisfaction with Liverpool’s dismal performance in the Premier League where they finished a distant 8th place.
Manchester City tactician, Roberto Mancini has also been linked to the 27 year old who was voted Liverpool’s player of the season.
Mancini identifies the tough tackling defender as a cheaper alternative to Milan’s Thiago and hopes to use the allure of European football to lure him to the Eitihad stadium.
The Citizens are in need of a proven defender to provide cover for Captain Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescort as they seek to defend their league and Mancini seems to have settled for the Slovak.
This latest development puts Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers in a precarious situation since he has a task of convincing his best players to buy into his philosophy before making new signings to Anfield.
