Martin Skrtel's agent admits it would be 'almost impossible' for Napoli to persuade Liverpool to part with his client.
The Reds centre-half has been strongly linked with a move to Italy this summer, with changes expected at Anfield in the wake of Brendan Rodgers' arrival as boss.
Rodgers has, however, been impressed by Skrtel's attitude since inheriting the managerial reins from Kenny Dalglish and is looking forward to working with the Slovakia international.
Skrtel still has two years left to run on his Liverpool contract and has already announced this summer that he intends to remain on Merseyside.
That has done little to curb the speculation, with Manchester City also said to be keen on doing a deal, but the 27-year-old's representative does not envisage a transfer being put in place.
"It is difficult, almost impossible, for Napoli to take Skrtel," Karol Csonto told Radio Crc.
Top player
"He has another two years on his contract with Liverpool.
"Martin is a top player and it is obvious that many clubs are looking at him, but for now Skrtel remains a Liverpool player."
Csonto has also sought to play down reports suggesting Genoa midfielder Juraj Kucka could soon be on his way to Napoli.
"They are certainly a club that would appeal to us and the player could do well at a team like that," he said.
"However, there is no agreement between the two sides."

Sky Sports news today revealed that Liverpool FC’s defender, Martin Skrtel has been approached by other clubs this summer.
Rumors in the early stages of the transfer window suggested Manchester City were keen on the Slovakian defender and were lining up a £20million bid to bring him to the Etihad.
Rumors had earlier died down thanks to a statement from Skrtel on his official website claiming there had been no contact and he was happy at Liverpool. Martin Skrtel picked up the Player of the Season award for his outstanding performances to help Liverpool achieve one of the best defence displays in the Premier League despite finishing much lower in the table then expected.
Liverpool fans were pleased when Martin Skrtel’s agent confirmed he would be staying and contract talks were on going. Karol Csonto was quoted saying
The player is staying at Liverpool and there have been contract talks over an extension to the remaining two years on his current deal.
Sky Sports revealed Martin spoke to Slovakian newspaper Dennik Sport before departing for Boston and had this to say of his current situation:
I am a player of Liverpool because I have a valid contract here. There exist a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward.
“We have been in talks about a new contract but it has not moved forward. At the moment I am a Liverpool player and what happens in future in football you can never foresee.
Anything can happen but for now I have a valid contract and what is to come will come
Despite casting doubt on his future at Anfield, Skrtel complimented of Rodgers’ management style:
He is absolutely OK. His motto is an open approach towards players and he is very human in the way he tries to communicate with us as much as possible.
Thanks to him, the atmosphere within the club has changed. It is now more relaxed
It is difficult to compare but I must highlight the openness of the new manager.
He told us right on the first training session we had the door open any time and anything we need we should come to him. He is a little bit different from Dalglish in this.
Rodgers has outlined how important both Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel are to Liverpool FC and his plans and will surely try to keep the Slovakian should a bid come in for the centre back.

No idea if he's committed, it's only really now his commitment is being tested if the rumours of other wealthier clubs being in for him are true, and the chance to be part of a title winning/challenging team immediately this coming season will indeed test his commitment, that and a very healthy pay rise on top.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostI think Skrtel will go tbh.
He's not committed enough imo.
Could do with keeping him and Agger together for now imo, then adapt to BR's new style with a solid and familair defence in place.Last edited by Vermilion; 19-07-12, 08:36 PM.
