Are people reading anything into Rodgers saying he will be 150% here next season? I personally think he's been told he is safe hence his comment.

Wait, so Rodgers says it, therefore he's safe? The one man under pressure has to exude confidence. He has to keep going as though he is safe. Rodgers isn't going to Boston expecting to be sacked. He'll be going there to provide answers to the mess we're in, and if FSG accept his answers, he'll be here. If not, he'll be binned. Only FSG know what they're going to do.

As for the 'mentally weak' comment, I don't think that is black and white. We were playing poorly and everyone went on about the dressing room being lost and then we turned it around. That requires strength of mind and determination. On the other hand we have ****ed up opportunities when under pressure. There does seem to be an element of fragility there but also I think there are tactical and talent issues.
That might not be the case. The committee might get scraped and an experienced DOF might be brought in allowing Rodgers to concentrate on managing the team. If that is their only concern, however if they take issue with the performances of the team this year then Rodgers might well have a problem.

One of the most telling things was the club not allowing Rodgers to go out in January and sign a striker when it was obvious to everyone we were desperate for one. Well we will know soon enough.

            Nah, not really.

He hasn't even had his season review with FSG yet. I don't even think FSG will know until they've had that conversation.

I'm actually beginning to wonder if the person most disadvantaged by the lack of DoF he insisted on himself is Rodgers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but LVG would have been our DOF now with Rodgers as manager if he'd have agreed.

                  I agree.

I do worry for Rodgers though that his absolute dismissal of the potential seriousness of the end of season review. Having been fired myself , sometimes you don't see the signs and people who you trust will get rid of you in a heartbeat, again just doing a job. If you've under performed, you are never safe, and thinking you are is complacent.

Brendan was asked the question so he had to give an answer, but he'd have been well minded to play it with a straight bat rather than trying to smack it out of the park. But that's b-Dawgs style.

In my opinion, Rodgers can say what he likes and the press can write he is safe, but I don't believe after the season we've had (reading the massive article above puts it perfectly) that he is.

I think Van Gaal wanted to be the manager instead of the DOF position offered.

i think he wont be going anywhere even though i would like us to change the manager. We will bring in a new director of football and keep rodgers which is a waste when jurgen klopp is available.

This is the line that stood out for me

We have been clear with the identity of how we want to play since I’ve been here.

If what we have seen over the past three seasons is a clear identity of how he wants the team to play, I would hate to see what he regards as chopping and changing.

For what it's worth - not much - I think something like this will happen.

I reckon some of the committee will go. Someone has to be accountable for this mess. Maybe Fallows, Edwards or Hunter. Or all of them. Someone new will come in to effectively run the show on the football side of things. Maybe Monchi, maybe someone else. There's been loads of rumours now that Mike Gordon has come to prominence that Ian Ayre will effectively be demoted. I think we'll see that materialise. Back to commercial or finance or something.

So Rodgers, having refused to work under a DoF when he was appointed, will have to agree to a new man coming and to all intents and purposes agree to work under him. I don't think the new kingpin will be called the Director of Football, I think it'll be another title as part of their tiered model, but I think he will be the top man for football/recruitment stuff. Of course Rodgers refused to work under a DoF when he was appointed (van Gaal was all ready to go as our DoF). I think FSG will want Rodgers to stay but if he refuses to work under new guy then they'll **** him off.

Loads of stabs in the dark there but there simply has to be changes - not a chance we go through this summer with everything staying the same. So for now I reckon the plan is for Rodgers to stay under a tweaked set-up - hence all this stuff in the press about Brendan being safe. But as I said, if he kicks up a fuss then it'll be see you later pal.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Doubt he'll kick up a fuss tbh.

My biggest issue with stick or bust is that Klopp is available, after this summer he could be at a club for years.

It's hard to decide, but that nagging doubt about not getting Klopp while he's available is a big one for me.

Maybe clouding my judgement over BR i don't know, but i cannot shake it, i see him as the better manager, and a better fit for lfc than BR. IMO.
