On the flip side, what if he has a good start to the season?Originally posted by Gazzla View PostIf he has a bad start to the season his position will be untenable and the mood around the club and supporters will be toxic. Keeping Rodgers will only set us back further and the gap between ourselves and the top 4 will grow. I worry about our immediate and long term future under Rodgers, the damage could take an awful long time to repairAlways borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Do you know what I'd love is for Rodgers to really turn things around. How amazing would that be. It would galvanize the club and fans, even those unhappy with him.
I just have a really good, positive feeling he will turn it around next year but the pressure is on him massively though of that I do agree.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

I genuinely hope he does for all our sakes, I liken it to Wenger at Arsenal where despite playing some brilliant football and getting results, a couple of bad results and the crowd turn on him and that's my fear with Rodgers, once you've lost the majority of the fan base it's very hard to get it back.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostOn the flip side, what if he has a good start to the season?Kurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

So do I mate. He will know he's under pressure and would expect nothing less.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostDo you know what I'd love is for Rodgers to really turn things around. How amazing would that be. It would galvanize the club and fans, even those unhappy with him.

I would love that to happen, I just have no faith that it will.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostDo you know what I'd love is for Rodgers to really turn things around. How amazing would that be. It would galvanize the club and fans, even those unhappy with him.

I would say no. If they knew the TV would would have increased by so much they would have found the money to pay off RBS. Nobody knew at the time that TV revenue would go up so much.Originally posted by fidget View PostSomeone tell me if I'm off the mark here.
The cowboys were gutted to be forced out because they knew the TV money would double the worth of the club and so did FSG.
No brainer buy.
They've done similar to what H&G did in that they're doing everything on the cheap but FSG let us spend more because we don't have to service the debt.
H&G were like laurel and hardy and didn't quite have the money or nouse to pull it off before they ran out of time.
FSG are going to make an awful lot of money when they sell us and can wait until it suits them.
Hopefully sooner rather than later.

It was common knowledge that the next TV deal was going to be a game changer.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostI would say no. True and next year can't be anything but another year of transition as we have no real foundations to build on, no recognisable style of play and no recognised formation. It's almost like we have to start from scratch again, the incoming transfer deals will be pivotal in deciding what direction we take.Originally posted by Rafa Justice View PostWe've spent 25 years in transition tbfKurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

None of us enjoys seeing the manager of LFC under such pressure but maybe this will be the kick up the arse he will need to realise he's on thin ice. He no longer has Gerrard in the dressing room so might feel like a weight has been lifted there.
I hope he gets it right next season I really do but for me this feels like 1993 when souness was a dead man walking but Moore's bottled out of sacking him and we lumbered on until the following January until he was sacked.

Sadly I agree, I think we're very much in that upper midtable 5th to 8th place bracket which is about our level now unfortunately, the teams above us are only going to get better and make that gap even biggerOriginally posted by leo View PostWe're going to have to accept that we aren't a top 4 club anymore. We are fighting for 5th.
The good ol days are gone.
