His quotes will generally be plastered over the local papers and such like, and a lot of fans are more actively engaged with the club than many of us, so it's a bit harder to avoid Brendans little nuggets of wisdom for them.

Agree about the banner though, i mean 1k of tweets is enough to say it's representative of the fans ? i don't think so, many may want him out, but it still needs doing correctly, and a banner on a plane isn't that.

I think hes at a real crossroads now

If he goes to 3 at the back then Clyne isnt going to be as effective

Sticking with a back four I suspect will mean him sticking with the same players hes been playing there most of this season

Maybe I'm wrong but I saw that switch last night being temporary, I am not sure he will go with that Sunday

However I am expecting the annual formation change to occur very soon

Yeah, I think his overall plan on how we should play is very confusing and lacks conviction. With that formation, he'll have to bench Clyne and I can't see this. I think Lovren will get the boot on Sunday though. It'll be Skrtel and Sakho, but it would be very harsh on Gomez.

If he plays 4-3-3 and doesn't play Ibe, we'll be very narrow again.
        Are we winning?

I haven't heard a press conference for years. I haven't shut myself away in a dark room to avoid them, you have to actively seek them out. So if he annoys you, just don't bother. Can't see how it's hard to achieve.

The problem is we went 3 at the back last night & we weren't really any better.

The only thing I would do based on last night is stick with a 4 but play Moreno, Sakho & Clyne, the other CB I can't decide from Skrtel, Lovren & Gomez.

I like Gomez but I still think he's a bit green & would be best off learning in the Europa for now. Crazy as it sounds, Skrtel has been that poor I'd play Lovren with Sakho.

                I think hes ****ed personally

The build up play is so sloooowww

Formation wise 4-4-2 would be the best for us but he needs to address the pressing, the speed of our play and have quicker players in the side

I dont think hes gonna get close to any of those things

The fact we changed to the three was telling in itself, it suggests a lack of belief in the system we have been playing (again) surely this lack of consistency is not helping the players build relationships and understandings each week as the requirements of the various formations continually move.

If we change back to a four then what was the point of last night? Or did we just change to see of the mighty Bordeaux?

All of these decisions are made to seem huge due to the current plight of the team, but they do make it seem as if Brendan is already scrambling for solutions.

It's a massive match on Sunday.

I was watching TV and I realised who Rodgers would be if he were a TV character -

                        Dr. House

Each episode (football season) he receives a brand new patient (squad of players) and tries different treatments (tactics, formations, players) through medical diagnostics (picking envelopes) with his medical team (backroom staff). Once in a while he'll even make wholesale changes to his medical team.

Back to the patients, they'll go through painful medical trials (playing like cunts), and slowly get sicker and sicker (getting thumped by Stoke/WHU) until near the end of the episode, Dr. House has a quiet epiphany and saves the patient (tactics/players that work). He often ****s up his personal life and friends.

Then the new episode starts with a new patients, more questions, near death trauma only to be saved at the end again.

I think that the switch to 3 at the back was just for last nights game, I would expect us to revert to a back four at the weekend. The problem is Clyne is a full back and Moreno is a wing back we don't have a player suited to a right wing back role or a left sided full back role. (To be fair Gomez has done a decent job but he clearly is clearly a CB playing full back and would be more suited to RB than LB).

I don't like the 3 CB system because without the ball if you get pushed back your wing backs essentially be come part of a back 5 and with the ball we don't have players with the intelligence to let one of the CBs push up into midfield, when we went down to 10 men against West Ham and played the 3 there they stayed all stayed back and Lucas still had to come deep to get the ball of them rather then one of them bringing it out.

I imagine Rodgers desire to play wingbacks comes from a need to get width into the side by I don't think they provide the right type of width - they will be prone to slinging in crosses from deep IMO if want to cross the ball we want to be trying to get wide players behind the opposition defence and causing problems from there. I get the early cross supposedly catches the defence unaware but if that is all you do and you only have one man in there it's not going to be hugely effective.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Agree with all that. I can't see why he's struggling to get the pressing right though. It seemed to be there during 13/14. The amount of time we dawdle on the ball is ridiculously annoying.

I get the passing side to side as you're looking for gaps, but doing it slowly allows the opposition to plug the gaps before you can exploit them. There's no quick fire passing and sharp, intricate play. Boring.

The only thing I can think is that he's over-doing it with the instructions rather than keeping it simple. The organisation off the ball is definitely there, but maybe to the detriment of our play with the ball which is still horrible, frankly. It's a long old game if you're being asked to frantically press, but end up losing the ball constantly or the team isn't pressing properly. That 13/14 team (and Rodgers) deserve all the credit it gets because they made it look very easy.

I'm always wondering why people would get so wound up by him talking? He does a press conference every week and that's not gonna change. I understand that it would have been easier if we'd been winning things (well, that was the case two years ago and no one complained).

Why should I have to go out of my way to ignore my team's manager though? Until G&H cunted everything up, I loved listening to Rafa, even Lokes listening to GH before he lost the plot- although I was never his biggest fan. A leader is suppose to be inspirational, unifying & charismatic- not cringeworthy. That's not an obscure concept is it?
