Not a big loss though really in terms of what he has contributed.

No - but he's still an international defender and arguably has more experience than throwing in Wisdom.

I'm not sure that he's shown that he can use that experience to the good of the team. I think he's got talent but at this stage I think we are a lot better off developing Wisdom or Kelly.

Too open and defensively poor all season, although we've scored a lot of goals they've come in floods.

There is a lot of work to do in the summer - the whole defence needs sorting out, plus tactically we need to work on not being so open through the middle when the game is in transition. What worries me most is that we're losing 3 international centre-backs in the summer (cannot see Skrtel staying after being bombed out) which is a hugely problematic.
Yet we have kept as more clean sheets than last season and more than every other prem team bar City and the 3rd best home defence in the league (behind Chelsea and City). Our concession rate is not as bad as you make out, the teams with the better defensive records to are are 5 of the 6 teams above, not that shocking really.

We have won 6 (Newcastle, Villa, Spurs, Wigan, Swansea, Norwich) in the last 15 losing 3 taking points of better teams such as Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Spurs.

You do realise that our aim is to end up above the teams currently above us right

At the end of the day though mate it's league position that matters, and that shows we are going wrong somewhere. Be it attack or defence.

We need to cut out some of the silly mistakes that we have in our play before next season definitely. And my fear is that re-building a full defence could hinder our progress even more.

I believe we are going in the right direction in terms of how we are playing, but I don't really think we have 'hugely' improved from last season. We are certainly more appealing to watch but we still aren't the most effective team around.

I'm fully behind Brendo, And I believe he can and will take us forward, although if we are in this exact position next year questions must be asked.

Transfers are so important for us this summer.

Yes, but we need better players and a deeper squad before that will happen.

                    My bad, I miscounted.

                    6 wins in 15, a win % of 40. Not great.

I can see with my own eyes that defensively we've been pretty poor - regardless of what the stats say. We're pretty hopeless dealing with crosses and have an alarming habit of being wide open through the middle when in transition.

Rodgers is doing ok, I'm not advocating replacing him (although Rafa is available again... ), but clearly we need to see significant improvement next season.

I'm surprised by that. We look like conceding every time we defend a set piece.

The people saying that we've been ****e this season need to ask themselves what exactly they expected from this season ? 4th place ? 5th ? To do that we would need to finish above Spurs and Arsenal, was that realistic in Rodger's first season considering the utter mess he was left ?
                            Brendan inherited a squad/club that :

                            1. Was producing relegation form football/results when he arrived.

                            2. Had lost Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy for nothing.

                            3. Couldn't score goals in the league if their lives depended on it, 47 goals all of last season

                            4. No scouting system was in place when BR arrived IIRC.

                            5. Lumbered with a squad that contained 80 million pounds worth of mediocrity bought by Dalglish and Commoli.

Brendan's first season has been far from perfect but he has IMO :

                            1. Stopped the rot from last season that had us in relegation form.

                            2. Sorted out the goal scoring issue (we've scored 20 more goals than last season with 2 games left)

                            3. Implemented a clear philosophy in regards to our playing style.

                            4. Has managed to get the best out of average players (Downing, Henderson and arguably Enrique)

                            5. Made good signings in January.

I never said that, I said it is no way near as bad as made out, there is a rather large difference. I think it is no a simple case of our defence, the midfield is part of it too, not to mention individual errors.

i really cant see any point in getting rid of brendan even after next season. every manager has to inherit a squad but no doubt brendan got the ****ty end of the stick. it wont be until the end of next season at the earliest before his squad takes shape
