Rodgers has to fight FSG this summer if necessary to get funds for 3 top players.....a midfielder, a striker and a top centre back......

It's summer, it is possible that Man United, City, Everton, Chelsea all will sack their managers..... Spurs could also possibly lose Bale......

Coupled with the fact that we only have domestic football to focus on next season, then it is time to have a proper title challenge next season...... Time to get back on our ****in perch....

I think it is unrealistic to expect a title challenge next season.

It may be unrealistic to expect a title challenge next season, but a number of teams above us are going to be undergoing a period of transition just like we have been this season. I don't expect us to win the league next season, but I think we have a very good chance of breaking back into the top four.

I think challenging top 4 is our goal next season. I do think it will still be a challenge.

i think the best we could hope for is to be challenging in 2-3 years.

we should definitely be expecting to see the points gap getting narrowed down though.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

This is the summer we have been waiting for and it's up to fsg and Rodgers not too **** it up. With fergie gone lfc need too try and get some momentum for next season. We need too send out a strong message to the rest of the country.

A good challenge for a top four place is realistically the best we can hope for or expect.

I'd be very shocked if we finished higher.

Seriously, who do people expect us to dislodge from the top four? And why / how?

United? City? Chelsea? Arsenal? Spurs? They've all progressed over the last few years whilst we've been through some massive changes (for the worst, mainly).

Genuinely interested in hearing people's thoughts on who we should be removing from the top four.

A challenge would be progress and that's a start.

I don't think any of the top 5 can rest on their laurels. European competition has shown this year that the league is not all that strong. I don't think those teams have progressed if the bar is set at the standard of what was required to be top 4 two/three seasons ago.

A lot depends on the changes that happen at each club both in terms of managers and players. If we keep Suarez I think we'll have a chance. Without him it will be another depressing season IMO.

United will be affected by losing their manager, they won't be as successful next year as they have been this.

City - maybe they might also have a new manager? Considering the money spent Mancini's position is not exactly safe.

Chelsea - new manager, older influential players being phased out. I suspect that Chelsea will be the team to beat next season.

                          Arsenal - same old.

Spurs - could easily lose their best player and will hopefully struggle to replace him.

Everton - will be affected by the loss of David Moyes assuming that the rumours are true.

We have a very good chance of making ground on the teams above us next season.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

But whilst we're not a bad team, we're not at the same level of the aforementioned and we haven't been for a while.

United, City and Chelsea will almost certainly take the top three places. So that leaves Arsenal, Spurs and us fighting for fourth.

The Bale & Suarez staying or going comparisons are equally as valid - both teams could keep a star player and both teams could lose a star player. If the latter happens then it'd probably depend on how the money is reinvested.

You can't dismiss Arsenal either even thought they have a pretty average squad.

Like I said; I'd be pleasantly surprised if we finished top four next year as it's a massive task. A proper challenge though would be progess and if we're still competing with a couple of games to go then I'd be happy enough with that.

                                yes, but - ****.

We aren't too far away from the teams above us, but then we've said that quite a few times before. I'm going to give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt and hope that we improve during the summer transfer window. We shouldn't be quite the transitional side next season and will hopefully get off to a better start.
