Rodgers blames his tools, Rafa blamed his furniture. FFS - just get on with it!
    Another MASSIVE game

Apart from playing players out of position and having no idea how he's going to play the players he himself wanted to sign the crucial thing with Rodgers is that he loses the big games.

Any big league or cup game over the last 16 months and we've invariably lost it. This club has 41 major honours in it's trophy cabinet. We didn't get those by bottling the big games - we got them by battling and scraping and winning those big games

For that reason above all the others Rodgers needs to get the bullet imo

All we need to do keep him happy is to sign Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar
That will solve the left back, holding midfielder and centre back issues then

This article from 30th June about the O'Driscoll appointment mentions Peters is still on the books.
                Hello mert.

I took it as a rhetorical question, suggesting that we appear to currently lack leadership and have all the mental strength of a sponge.

As already said, some really interesting posts a page or two back from Hemmingway

Have to say I rather agree now. I never had the issue some had with Brendan's chat over the past 3 years, always found him relatively affable for a football manager and thought people made too much out of the odd thing taken out of context, but in the last week or two he really has been misjudging his comments very badly. That stuff about losing less than other top teams, hysteria and insinuating conspiracies was ridiculous and very much missed the mood of the fans at the moment; it isn't even results that have been our major problem but totally abject performances with a complete lack of control, game management and tactical solidity. Anyone with eyes can see we've not been anywhere near good enough in our play and he should just have held his hands up to that, recognised the issues and kept the rest to himself.

Likewise blaming his "tools", what is it they say about a poor workman? No matter who we have had to sell the guy has had more to spend than any manager in our history by a country mile, if we could see the players we have performing to their best and that not being quite good enough compared to our even richer rivals that would be one thing, but when tactics and selections are clearly hindering rather than maximising our performance it seems quite evident where the problems are, and he's only going to put everyone's backs up even more trying to deflect the blame.

I still think there are ridiculous issues taken in some quarters at the most incidental and minor things he says and the personality based criticisms are almost entirely silly & irrelevant, but his reaction to the pressure in the last few weeks has not done him any favours at all. I'd still love him to turn it around and go on a massive winning spree, starting by smashing Everton next weekend; as long as he's our manager his success is our team's success after all, but I'd be foolish to believe that will actually happen on the available evidence at the moment.

Somebody, give the club a ring and tell them the decision has been made.

Thanks Brendan, and all the best in your future endeavors.
