Another big clear out is inevitable. The way the transfers have gone over the last few years I would be a bit apprehensive about who the current regime would bring in. Last summer was the time to spend big and bring in experienced quality, that didn't happen for one reason or another. This summer is absolutely vital to bring in experienced players, each season out of the champs league makes it harder to get back in & a gap widens at the top.
As regards Rodgers staying or going... I'm very concerned at the moment and on the fence but the last few games of the next might be crucial to what happens.

Plus this idea of a clear out highlights that a lot of players we're going to clear out are players bought by Brendan
for me it always comes down to whether we were beaten by a better team - looking down through the Villa team I'd say only Benteke would get into our starting 11 on Sunday - and when Sturridge is fit I don't even think he would get into our best 11
But we started on Sunday with no recognised centre forward - but we had 3 on the bench. And all 3 were bought to the club by Rodgers
I'd have Delph in for Allen as well but other than that probably agreeBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Forgot about Vlaar, yep he looks better than Lovren from what I have seen of himBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Not only were we poor but we were gutless, that for me is worse. Anything can happen in the FA Cup as we've seen over the years, was always going to be a tough game against Villa.Originally posted by ntto View Postyea fair point (although do delph and allen play similar roles?)
That's 2 or 3 from 11 - which shows how poor we actually were. We didn't trouble a 39 year old goalkeeper
Having a poor game now and again is acceptable, it happens but showing no passion, heart or balls in an FA Cup semi is not acceptable at all. That combined with Rodgers changing formation so many times in one game & seemingly not knowing what way to set up against a very inexperienced manager.... just made for uncomfortable viewing all round.

Well on Saturday one was winning possession, harrying the opponents and constantly pressing and then threatening the box and scoring a goal and creating chancesOriginally posted by ntto View Postyea fair point (although do delph and allen play similar roles?)

The other was getting knocked over and passing the ball sideways or backwards
So maybe you are right

Except they can't really as they have all been pretty ****e when played out of their preferred position.Originally posted by The Birdman View Post.
Moreno, Can, Lovren, Ibe, Markovic, Sterling have all shown they can play in numerous positions across several formations.

que Rafa's comments about sofas & lampshades again?Originally posted by BigChief View PostIn a nutshell.
I reckon Rodgers got more leeway over the 'committee' last summer to get the players he wanted because he did so well in the league. Big mistake, he badly wanted Lallana and Lovren.
Next season he badly wants Ashley Williams. Thankfully that leeway will now be yanked back hard.
For all his protestations Rodgers is the ideal manager to work with a DoF. He could become a truly world class manager as he wouldn't continue undoing all his great work by his own purchasing deficiencies.Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!
