We can justifiably say theyre been dire for us but they are experienced players who have played plenty of games in league and in some cases European / international football.

Theyre not rookies like the others. Whether theyre good enough is a different question.

None of them have more than 35 caps. Balotelli is a journey-man, Lambert is at the end of his career and Lallana has had a stop-start season due to injury. None of them are in their peak and whilst they're certainly not youths, only Lallana is around his prime and Lambert is a squaddie.

We lack experienced, able players. That calming influence of players who have experienced it all to combine that youthful exuberance.

But theyre not kids with little experience of top level football. There is an issue with recruitment and someone needs to put that right.

There's a guy who has developed a computer programme / algorithm at lfc and he has a lot of input into who's bought. Hes an analyst but not as well known as the rest of the committee. Its ridiculous that you have a computer programme to make those sorts of decisions for you based solely on stats.

I agree, they're not children, but equally they are not seasoned pros or players in their peak. Maybe I'm getting old and struggling with age but I think we need a better blend.

Midfield from August to November would have been Gerrard and Alonso. Ah the lure of a relegation battle. Good times. Nostalgic.

we've gutted our squad of all the leaders over the last 3 seasons and now with gerrard going we've not got a lot of players who would run through a brick wall for you.

Yep, just decided, i want Klopp now, it's a shame, but BR has had 3 years, and we are imo no further ahead in reality, bar one season when Suarez and Studge were in title! winning! form! we've not progressed much if at all.

Harsh!? Maybe, but it's all about timing now, and Klopp is available, so imo we have to try, he has won things, he is proven in that score, personality suits us fans too, unlucky for BR sure, but Klopp is available now! or soon anyway, then he's gone for a few years again, i actually think certain players would be more willing to come here too, i may be wrong, but it's what i feel.

As i say nothing against BR, just timing, and opportunity!

Of course the trouble comes as we need to speak to Klopp, especially if the idea is too keep BR if Klopp should go elsewhere, and especially if the idea is to keep BR if we can't get Klopp.

Anyway, that's for Ian to work out.

edit: ****! there's a BR replacement thread!! Which would have been more apt. Who knew!!

We managed to speak with Rafa months before we canned Houllier so it can be done

We have progressed mate, not enough but we have. Remember when BR took over we had finished 8th, were in relegation form and playing exclusively terrible football, we went from that to coming closer to winning the league than we ever have since 1990 while breaking several records while doing it. We're likely to finish 5th this season which while disappointing is an improvement on were the club was at 3 years ago.

Just feels we are in exactly the same position as before, not regular top 4 finishers, still losing the players that make the most difference, not surrounding them with enough quality while their here.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

is this a more competitive or less competitive league than it was say 10 years ago. For example when benitez was manager man utd were much stronger, arsenal were about the same, chelsea were also very strong, no city, but spurs were a decent side.

now, united are ****, arsenal are their usual selves, city are good but not great, chelsea are good, spurs are ****.

Except Utd aren't **** and city are reigning champions. And spurs were about the same.
