Rodgers' problem (which is of his own making) is that clubs and fans like to see progression. The club made such incredible strides last season that it is difficult to call our current position anything other than disappointing. We've regressed, no doubt about it. And that's a big thorny issue.

If he does remain manager next season then 5th and domestic semi-finals cannot be seen as success or par; he will need to do more.

I've just read Tony Evans book (Don't Know What is is But I Love It) which is a great read by the way

Its full of some great quotes and this one from Dalglish immediately jumps to mind "You never stand still. In football, you're either going forward or you're going backward"
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Are you setting Frank up to swoop in with a patented 'painters radio' gag here?

In that context I suppose its not that bad. Still not great though
In that context I think it's a wonderful gesture. He could have put it in the garage or an obscure room.

With the exception of Emre can and maybe Moreno, LFC would snap the hands off anyone who'd give us back our money for any of the signings we made last summer.

So they have been failures so far. Perhaps markovic can do something but in reality that's a flick of a coin.

dont think it matters who we would have had up front. we dont create enough chances

our problems are much deeper than just needing a 30million+ striker

I'm only going by the league games, but this season we've created 11.16 chances per game; Last season was 12.84. In Rodgers' first season, we were creating 14.37.

A chance equals a golden opportunity.

It's our chance conversion that's dropped.

Yep, not to mention top strikers tend to be able create something out of nothing hence being errrm top strikers!

the perception that Brendan had Balotelli forced upon him or that it was "Balotelli or nobody" is a bit convienient for the manager as well. So much so that he seems to bs dropping that hint himself. In reality he still had tk sanction the deal. He had his 3 hour meeting with the lad. He needed to give the whole thing the thumbs up. And he did. So the buck stops with Brendan. If Balotelli wasnt the right type of player for LFCs system, then ****in dont accept him.

What is strange when you look at his whole tenure is that the acceptance of balotelli into the squad directly contradicts the treatment of Andy Carroll when brendan first arrived.....

Maybe because he saw Andy as a good time charlie whereas after discussions with Mario he thought he'd knuckle down under the right tutelage?

Who knows, but nothings ever black and white.
