Talking to swansea fans afterwards, they were basically saying that it was like that all the time.... When he first joined Liverpool, i was really excited with the way brendan got rid of the likes of downing and promoted Suso and Sterling into the team. Tom Warners comments of brendan being "a teacher" looked spot on.

And I have never seen a Liverpool team as good as ours in 2013/14.

Where I think it fell apart was when he signed so many players. I said it at the time that we should just sign 2 or 3 players to replace Luis Suarez and I stand by that. Brendan really had a problem when he tried to integrate all those signings into the team last year. Brendan became like Father Ted in the episode where he was trying to tap-tap-tap out a dent in the car and ended up ****in wrecking the thing.

I think the 50m we gave Southampton for the 3-L's was a ****in disaster. If everyone was fit, then our best 11 is probably the same as the 13/14 team with Milner, Clyne and Benteke/Ings to replace Johnson, Gerrard and Suarez. None of the signings from last summer made any difference. Maybe Emre Can, Markovic and Origi will eventually, but they have added two thirds of **** all so far. For me this is where the big problem over his tenure has been.

And when he recently started talking of rebuilding again, then i think that is where the game was up.

I have no doubt that losing Sturridge for all of last year was a kick in the cock for him. We would possibly have got 4th last year had he been fit for even 2/3s of the season.

Hoowever, over the last couple of weeks / months, we have started looking like a rudderless ship not really knowing where we are going...

I felt sorry for Brendan today. In reality he tried his best. Although it's been horrible at times recently, we need now to remember the following:

      - He tried his best. He worked hard for the club.
      - He didn't actually spend that much when you consider the players he sold and the fees he got for those players.
      - He had to clear out a lot of ****e when he arrived.
      - He has made Phil Coutinho from a £8m Inter Milan reject into a brazil international and a player with big potential (and value)
      - He has made Sturridge one of the top strikers in the country (when fit). Rejected by Chelsea, he is now a player that would walk into their side.

Hope he does well. I think he should take a few months off and then take a job like Villa, Everton, Southampton or even someone like Spurs if and when they come available.

      Wish him all the best.
not sure if it's the amount of players signed though.....personally I do to think he realised the standards demanded and the players he rated, who in all respect may be class for say Swansea, just aren't the required level here.

I use this sort of example a lot...joe Allen and borini are prime examples....Rodgers thought they were the dogs bollocks....and take away us/city/Chelsea/utd/arsenal and maybe even spurs, those players would be regular first teamers and do well... But stepping up just looked like fishes out of water.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

At the end of the day he tried his absolute best. Unfortunately it just wasn't quite good enough. Can't fault a man for trying as any one of us that had been given the golden ticket would've accepted the job.

Hope he gets another go at a smaller club where expectations aren't relentless

And he had to work with Ian Ayre. How he still has a job is beyond me.

Doesn't seem like he knew anything, at the end he mentions regrouping after the internationals.

While he may have not known he was about to get sacked today, he'd be bloody stupid to be totally unaware of the fact he could go at any moment.

Mirror saying he was told over the phone.

We have to appreciate what Rodgers did for us but we move on. He shouldn't have been given the job in the first place because he himself didn't have the tools to be our manager.

He did his best, he has developed as a manager and we appreciate his efforts but we move on.

We came 2nd by the efforts of others, not Rodgers. If we had won the league it would have been fantastic. We came 2nd. Few reminisce about getting past Barcelona and Chelsea to lose the cl final in 2007. Why? because we came 2nd

He had nothing to do with it? Just 11 players having a kick around?

                            Give over.

He was the manager he managed to take us there, ridiculous to think otherwise.

What has happened since hasn't been up to the standard but that season he got us playing fantastic stuff.

                              10 players and Luis Suarez.

Just happened to be there when we had no European football, were knocked out of the cups and Sturbridge and Suarez had an incredible season. Ridiculous to think otherwise.
