Aye. He revitalized Gerrard, if only for one brilliant season, playing him as the deep-lying playmaker when everyone else was calling time on Gerrard's career.

You mean that wasn't Suarez who did that?

We didn't get there despite Rodgers being manager, nor did we get there solely on the exploits of Luis Suarez

Sad he's gone, but glad he's gone
Suarez was a massive reason. If you look at the end of season stats, in that season we came second we had 101 goals scored and 50 conceded. The following shows 52 scored, 48 conceded. This season we're only 8 games in and already 10 conceded, so chances are it'll end up around the same, give or take. Our defence was rubbish. You will not win any cups with that sort of defence and it was mainly Suarez who got us up there, bless his teeth.

Open letter to the fans after he spends a dirty week end away for our Xavi

Suarez was a massive reason. Sturridge was a massive reason. Gerrard was a massive reason. Coutinho was a massive reason. Sterling was a massive reason

The person that put them on the pitch in the positions they played in was also a massive reason
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

However the performances and muddled transfer strategy of the last 18 months have rightly cost him his job. It has honestly been such a long time since I have seen a totally convincing LFC performance, even when results have been in the teams favour.

You can't be allowed to get away with disasters like Markovic where a guy is signed for big money, played out of position and then loaned out, probably so he can be signed afterwards for half the fee all in the space of a year or two.

He was given more time and money than most of his peers would get. Agree Re carra, Souness. They are contradicting themselves now.

If the our title challenge had been down to Rodgers coaching then why the terminal decline as soon as Suarez was sold?
The counter to that would be - if it was all down to Suarez then why then did it it take until his 3rd season for us to challenge?

After all, he played with that intensity right from his first game.

As Fierce said, it's not solely one thing or the other.

He would be perfect for Sunderland.

I reckon he'll have a bit of time off, McClaren will get sacked in a few weeks / months and Brendan will go there.
