I don't really mind it any more than I do the tedious clichés of the previous generation of managers. There is clearly a sea change going on with a new generation of managers like Rodgers and Adkins bring a more corporate/sports-psychologists set of terms to their job. It's not something I particularly like but I do enjoy the fact that there is a bit more differentiation between the way people talk about the game and the stuff around it these days.

I guess it makes a change from the tedious old cliches.

      Funny old game
      Game of two halves
      5 year plan
      Blah blah blah

People working in the football industry generally don't have the best tools to come up with inventive language. So now I guess they're nicking it from management courses and self help books.
      Oh I don't know.

Good example - he's just been sacked!

He hadn't been when I posted - which says something about how quickly things change in football these days

Probably about where he played him.

                  Exact!

Could be he was simply asked what he felt Rodgers was thinking regarding Sahin's role.

Klopp is right up there with the best managers and he's just saying what a lot of people thought.

I think we could have made much better use of Sahin even though he struggled he wasn't ever as bad as the form Allen is currently showing and in fairness Gerrard's poor run was pretty bad too.

Or this quite could have been mined to say something that was never said. Context is important and we have none.

Jurgen Klopp questions Brendan Rodgers use of Sahin at Liverpool

                        2013-01-17 10:06:10

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he was surprised by how Brendan Rodgers used Nuri Şahin and defended his players performances over the past season putting it down to injuries and being played out of position.

"Nuri is a great player, but he was injured when he went to play for Real Madrid," said Klopp according to Tribalfootball.com

"That was his problem. I do not know what Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was thinking. However, playing him as a number ten is not the best solution in my opinion."

The Turkish international midfielder also believed he was being played out of position during his time at Liverpool.

In December Şahin said, “I’ve played my whole career deeper – that’s my position.

“But I have played as a number ten here. It was new for me but I tried my best to help the team.

“If I could choose a position it would be holding, as I feel more comfortable playing deeper and can give my all.”

The Turkish international made his debut for Borussia Dortmund aged just 16, becoming the youngest player to appear in the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined van Marwijk when he left Dortmund to take over at Feyenoord as part of a loan deal. He went on to lift the Dutch cup with the De Stadionclubin in 2008.

Klopp reintroduced Şahin to the Dortmund side the following season and in 2010-11 he played a key role in helping Die Borussen lift the Bundesliga title and was named player of the season.

Şahin joined Real Madrid amid high hopes when he signed for €8 million, last summer. However, a string of unfortunate injuries had him sidelined for much of the season.

Liverpool signed Şahin on a loan deal this summer however, the transfer did not work out and the Reds cut his stay at the club short six months into his tenure.

Dortmund have agreed a 6 month loan deal with Real Madrid with a future buy-out clause.

I think that makes it a little different IMO.

Regardless of context I still think we could have used Sahin better, he started off well scoring a few goals.

We never really used him in the position he wanted to play in, so its a case of we got a player in that either we thought played in a different position which would be embarrassing. Or, we thought Gerrard/Allen/Henderson/Shelvey were all better options at the time, but I think Sahin should have had a chance at some point.

If there is an option to buy for Dortmund in this loan deal, then it would seem Real having had a look at him are contemplating getting some of their money back.
