I said it after after the West Brom game but we're at a fine balance between 5th, 6th 7th place and fighting for top 4.

We have definitely made progress. Steve Clarke said it before the game that we are one of the best teams to watch in the league and although he has past links to the club, he's not going to make a total idiot of himself just to be nice. I agree with him.

We need to shore up the defence. Skrtel and Agger need to become meaner. Just watch Juve last night. Alot of people are calling them cheats but do you think they give a f*ck? Look at the scoreline they've come away with. I think they are class and that's the sort of aggressiveness we need to show to put the fear back into teams coming to Anfield.

You just get the feeling at the moment that teams fancy playing against us because we play football the good, honest way but this just means we concede too much. We need to get meaner in defence and then play the fancy stuff further up the field.

For me, Skrtel, Agger and Reina have let us down this season with costly mistakes and it's such a shame because they are crucial to the system.

If we finished outside the top 10 or even 8, I think FSG would be looking for explanations. And that's my big fear - we go out of the EL and top four becomes unattainable and our season just peters out and we drop down the table.

It wouldn't just be FSG asking the questions either.

That said, BR has got quite an easy ride from the media by the looks of things, Fanning aside.

And I'm not gonna lie, whilst it's too early to judge BR, I'd love to have Ancelotti.

We're nowhere near challenging for top 4, and haven't been all season. It's more than a fine line imo. It's a proper step up.

We haven't even being challenging for a EL place this season. The highest we've been is 7th place for about a week.

The Ancelotti/November thing is a worry tho. I can't imagine Ancelotti would publicly flirt with the LFC job without any encouragement. Surely FSG couldnt have expected him to get us firing from the off? Or perhaps David Brent promised them the world...

Quite shocking the insults that fly towards Rodgers from LFC fans. All this David Brent stuff is a load of ****. Hodgson deserved stick for his fawning over Utd and Ferguson whilst our manager and his general ****eness, but not sure what Rodgers has done to deserve all the personal insults to be honest

Oh and we've not been a top 4 side since Rafa's last season and we've lost a load of top quality players since and prior to that season. Not sure what makes people think we can jump from the crap in the last 3 seasons to demanding 4th. ****ing deluded

I wouldn't say it's abuse but it's definitely unfair. It's nothing like the personalised abuse Rafa gets which really is disgraceful. And yet, if it all goes wrong the comparison could be uncomfortably accurate.

Pretty crazy that mocking the guy 6 months into his reign as manager. That's Chelsea class right there. Sure there were some doing it 6 games in then go on the general football thread to slate Chelsea fans for having a pop at Rafa.

Yep. But our problems only started when Rodgers got the job. We were Champions League regulars before then. Talk about re-writing history
