you could imagine Shanks not having much to say, but every word was special.

Sorry, did I just miss a game since we played Swansea where we lost and let in a load of goals?

Or is it just another bitch about Brendan day

Could this not have waited until we play tomorrow? I'm pretty sure we'll concede

We will end up like Keegan's Newcastle is we are not careful.

He needs to get our defence sorted first and foremost. Mostly the same players Rafa had, why can they all of a sudden not defend to save their lives?
Of course it has nothing to do with the players being 3 years older, a little bit slower on the pitch and in the mind from Rafa's day. It's all on tactics, even the individual howlers. Sure he told Reina to come haring off his line to tackle Aguero too

Come on baity, Shankly loved to talk. Listen to the famous soundbites. I do think that Brendan may be guilty of trying replicate some of that, but the trouble is, 40 years on, it has become a bit of a cliché.
            Oh I don't know.

              Precisely.
He is trying to make 'legendary' quote, but almost on a daily basis. I reckon if you took out a microphone within two miles of him he would come rushing.

Paisley on the other hand. You might have a point there. I don't recall any soundbites from him.

Kenny was a man of few words in front of the media, but apparently quite the opposite away from the glare.
                Oh I don't know.

3 years wiser... 3 years more playing together....

Obviously the players (particularly Agger) have been ****ing up, but there just doesnt seem to be any shape, style or tactics involved in how we defend.

I think the move away from zonal marking to man marking is what has ruined Agger on set pieces. He always loses his man and hardly ever even leaves the floor to challenge anyone.

The players need to step up but Rogers also needs to sort it out too.

Rafa bringing IN zonal marking from man marking also caused untold angst in our defence. And in the media hoohah that followed. Yet Rafa stuck with it and in 18 months was lauded for it.

So basically Brendan is introducing what he thinks is correct, using players that are not yet fluid in the system and he needs to be burned at the stake after 5 months. Right, gotcha.

You are right. Under Rafa at the beginning it took a while for the defence to settle. He was regularly slated for the zonwl marking. Arguably he had better central defence pairing than Rodgers has. He had 2 leaders in there. Agger has lapses in concentration. Only himself to blame

Rafa got so much **** for zonal marking but at half-time in the Arsenal v Bayern game this week Lee Dixon said that the Arsenal back-four that he played in also used zonal. The famous Arsenal back-four that is as much of a cliche for football journos as West Ham winning the world cup, Fergie's hairdryer and "too many foreigners/England manager should be English."
                        Never knowingly optimistic

playing attractive, exciting football and challenging for the title?

                          we should be so lucky.

No, he means we'll end up being managed by Kevin Keegan.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

No, he means we'll keep losing 4 - 3 at Anfield.
