I had a discussion about this very thing on Twitter with someone, who just refused to see the other point of view.Originally posted by dww View PostI think the thing is that teams in a different situation to us may be willing to pay more as the risk/reward ratio is different for them. Also the idea that we could 'nip in' and that agents wouldn't alert other teams to get more money out of the deal seems to me to be a pretty unlikely scenario (I accept it is possible). In this case it appears we were first on the scene but all the interested parties just wanted more money or something else that others could offer.
Surely, everyone thinks we have to have some sort of limits on what we will play for each player?
When City got linked with Papadopoulos last week, he was ranting saying we should have signed him, "The fact that City want him shows we fcuked up now". But City have so much money that they can speculate with £15m on an injured player. When our budget is probably £25m then we really can't can we?
Spurs are probably spending their Bale money. They can afford to add on £5m here or there to get a deal done. I'm not sure we can. Circumstances are different. Unfortunately, the years of mis-management are going to take a lot longer for us to get over

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

It was only because no-one else wanted them, we bought trash because its all the owners would sanction and got very lucky. Wake up, smell the bacon!Originally posted by dom9 View PostAnd what about those instances where we don't "miss out"? There have been a few of those too - Coutinho, Sturridge, Mignolet, Aspas etc etc.
Or something along those lines.

Not been there for years. Last time we went we got to the gates 30 mins before opening and paid the £40 or whatever extra for a fast pass on to the best 5 rides. We then ran to the far end of the park and stayed on Rameses Revenge for about 10 goes as it wasn't on the fast pass thing. After that we went on the lame-o rides without queues and finally spent the afternoon using the fast pass to bypass 45min queues. Totalled 45 rides each.
It was a proper Army style assault on the park but **** me we got our money's worth

True.Originally posted by Muddled View PostEspecially when FSG are still reeling from spending 27+3+5 pounds on Carroll and 12+6+2 pounds on Downing.
At the same time, Suarez has worked out on the field and his value has appreciated by £20m or so. Sometimes you have to spend money to make it..Substance > Style
