Its obvious now that the diamond was never in his long term thinking, and was mostly about getting those 3 to play together as an attacking force. The intensity, if you think about it, was only there for that period of time with the players he had at that time. The key players were Sterling (gone), Sturridge (almost perennially injured), Suarez (gone) and Gerrard (gone).

That formation was pragmatism and reacting to a situation he found himself with personnel wise, nothing else. It was never his default "philosophy".

Rubbish innit? We all wish for that style to come back, but it won't happen with him, it was anomalous.

It has gone worse, I'm not disagreeing with this. Rodgers has not adapted into a different style and there has been a lack of direction in the way we've replaced those players.

But that's how teams evolve and to his credit, Rodgers was thriving in that system. When he needed, he knew that he could play a diamond, and change for another game. Key was his adaptability when things were going well.

But his subsequently muddled approach to systems, tactics and positioning would suggest it wasn't so much adaptability as happening to find something that worked at that time. It lasted until it was found out, much like last season's 3 at the back that Bolton and Blackburn had very few problems with, much like Carlisle the other night.

its time to lay off rodgers. He knows he's in a bad place and that its inevitable he will lose his job. im sure the severance will no doubt put things into perspective but he's still a human being and deserves to be treated with respect.

Think that's unfair and had he won us the league (which we were within a whisker of winning), he would have been elevated into an instant legend and no matter what had gone wrong afterwards, I'm sure a lot of people would have defended his current predicament a bit harder.

We've been against it as a club for the last 27 years. Bad decisions at all levels. We need to have a clear philosophy once and for all and I hope we have a rethink from top to bottom after he's gone.

Whilst its undoubtedly not a nice place for Brendan to be in at the moment, we should remember he threw Marsh and Pascoe under the bus last season in a joint human sacrifice to the gods at FSG.

He also appears to have completely isolated several players (committee signings he didn't fancy?) over his tenure, seemingly giving them little to no chance of proving themselves at the club.

Its not particularly nice, but that's the game they're in and they're well compensated for it.

Every time I see comments in here I enter hoping to here he's been sacked. I'm not proud of feeling like this but that's how I feel.

Well, we didn't win the league so thats moot. And then we blew it spectacularly on our return to the Champions League.

You can't defend a position on 'if only's'. If Brendan gets the chop, I can't imagine there to be a scenario where he can claim he wasn't given a fair amount of opportunities.

And it is hard to defend a record of won 28, lost 20 & drawn 18 out of the last 66 games. Its not acceptable. How long do you keep extending the opportunity to turn it around when we have've basically been in free fall since that Chelsea game in 13/14.

How do you know he threw them under a bus?

He might have gone to FSG and said my backroom staff aren't up to it, we need better and I want to change them.
That's not throwing anyone under a bus, that's striving to be better, that's showing a ruthlessness to succeed.

I know for a fact that Pascoe last season couldn't believe his luck that he was working for Liverpool FC, treated it as one big jolly up
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

The club should show ruthlessness to succeed, sack Rodgers and get in high caliber manager with some titles or trophies on his CV.
                              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
