They missed the trophies won comparrison during same period; we were gearing up for AC milan when racking up losses during Rafa's 1st season.............

That said, i love em both, so who cares

Aye, there were two major trophies won (or on course to win) over that period, but that doesn’t take anything away from Rodgers achievements who has well exceeded expectations and could possibly go one to win the hardest of the lot.

The comparison will be interesting come May and hopefully it weighs in BR’s favour.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yep, the results in cup competitions in general has been extremely poor so for for Rodgers, whereas Rafa was a master at them.

That's something that concerns me for next season should we make the Champions League. Haven't said that I'll be so elated to be back in the competition it will be the least of my worries

They also missed that it was two totally different sets of players playing in a league full of totally different teams of players, some with different managers, which may or may not have made it easier or harder for either manager during the highlighted period.

True but results are all that matter. Nobody considers how many goals are scored from the penalty spot or against **** opposition when the Golden Boot is handed out.

But from our perspective I guess you're right. Rodgers inherited better players but a **** playing style. Benitez inherited a ****ter team but a successful one.

And one of those 90 minutes draws wasn't the 2005 European Cup Final, and none of those wins were against Olympiakos, Bayer Leverkusen or Juventus

Am I still on my own thinking that Rodgers bears a striking resemblance to Dalglish?

For me they are our best two managers over the last few decades. Rodgers hasn't quite proved it yet - but he will go on to prove it.

I wonder how BR went from tiki taka possession based death by football to direct, win at all costs game that we play now.

the two are at complete polar ends.

Its pragmatism isn't it? Shows his intelligence and adaptability

Nigey would have you believe he hasn't changed anything though and he only has one method! NO PLAN B!!!!

Wasnt one of his main aims to get his teams to press high up and win the ball high up the pitch as well as the holding of the ball. I dont think he has completely ditched his philosophy which he had at the outset. The pressing high up the pitch and winning the ball early is whats working for us. Think the level of control (ie possession ) isnt quite upto where he wants it to be, but suspect that is something that evolves over many years as opposed to within one

                              What's changed then?

I think people are being misconstrued here. I never said that he had no plan B, but rather that our style of football on the whole, is the same. We just play with more tempo now, and that's down to accommodating certain players' strengths. And we have certainly evolved since when he first started, and that's normal.

But the idea is the same. Try to control the game, with or without the ball.
                              Are we winning?

We do try and regain possession from the front. That has never changed. Our defensive line isn't as high as you'd think though, because our pressing game doesn't mean we all press as a team. Think our forward players play a greater role in our pressing game, than say our defensive midfield or back line.
                                Are we winning?
