BR and his staff had a 3 hour meeting with Hodgson and his staff, detailing how each of the LFC players train, prior to Sturridge's injury.

They clearly ignored what was said, and it wasn't the first time Sturridge has been mishandled by England. LFC must now have the final say.

BR also wary of Sterling playing too much, said he wants England to take him off if comfortable in the coming qualifiers. Will Roy listen?

Well for a start it doesnt mean Gerrard is left redundant by this, its just about creating the space for him

For instance Saturday Gerrard pushed up taking Naismith with him, Henderson then dropped in picked the ball up. Naismith then had a decision either stay with Gerrard and leave Henderson free (and Lukaku isolated) or go to close Henderson. Frankly he seemed to have decided somewhere in between (ie he left Gerrard and moved nearer Henderson) this left Gerrard free 10-15 yards further up the pitch

Its not about Henderson taking Gerrards role its about moving into a position to create space for either himself OR Gerrard

I liked the Brendan stance with England.

I wish it was something that could be applied to all international players and the clubs could take more power from it. I am sick and tired of anachronistic international competition - it seem fusty, old and backwards looking. Daniel's absence is just another one caused by national teams we have endured in the recent past, we had it with Torres being overplayed, Gerrard picking up injuries, even Dudek coming back from a World Cup a shell of the player he was during the season.

Its just such an outdated concept that these leading teams, who pay millions of currency to their players and heavily rely upon, have to hand them over to international teams who risk their fitness with no regard for their long term wellbeing and the only recompense might be an arbitrary compensation settlement. It doesn't make sense, they're assets being used for nothing by other people they don't belong to. And for what? England being mediocre? Scotland being rubbish? Brazil being a sad reflection of what they were?

The Champions League killed international competition. It should be buried.

I think international football is for fans of clubs in the lower divisions.

I agree though. Abolish it. It's rubbish.

Yep it definitely is, its always crappy Yorkshire based teams you see with their names emblazoned across the middle of the St George's cross.

If the lower league fans want to watch international football, let their players get wrecked playing against San Marino or Andorra.

You think so? Some of the biggest Ingerlund fans I have met have been Yorkshire people. Isn't the brass band from Sheffield?

I think its fair to say the national team belongs to the whole nation. It is not a north versus South. It's more a big club versus smaller club split. More people do care than don't overall.
