Nobody has written him off, just need a reality check here. He is simply not as good as maybe many think. I expect more from him, even forgetting the fee we paid.

For me, the DM doesn't have any attacking responsibilities. He shouldn't get much further forward than the centre circle. At most, he should be offering a "backwards-outlet" for the midfielders who are further forward. i.e. when they run into traffic and have no other options but to play it back.

Once Lucas is back, or god forbid we actually BUY another DM, I would expect to see Allen used more progressively and be contributing to our attacking play, with Lucas in the DM role.
Exactly what I want. Total football. Interchanging positions, marouding full backs, quick passing, incisive passing and penetrative pass and move football. The Liverpool way. And yes our CBs have traditionally contributed to our attacking play.

The comparisons with Barcelona players are just ****ing daft

It doesnt matter who Allen would be playing with it still wouldnt elevate him to their level - they are world class players

Thats not to say hes a bad player because he isnt

Hes just not in their class, no shame about that to be honest

I hate having to type "wait for Lucas" but the squad being the way it is now, thats exactly where we are. Gerrard isn't exactly mobile enough to help him (he seemed rooted in the centre circle yesterday) and Henderson is limited in ability and confidence. Sahin is also a new signing and Lucas is out.

ONce he's settled into his new job, and is played where he can display his talents, then it'll be a fair time to write him off if he has a long spell of being average. Far too early to say anything bad about him, his less than spectacular performances are a symptom of where the squad is rather than him being a bad player.
I do, I expect it and its so mind numbly predictable ... same way Suarez got them, same way Lucas got them, same way Carra got them early on in his career, Same way Enrique is getting them now ... I choose not to bother with those opinions now .. If people think Allen is Meh or what every word is in vouge now, good luck to them people I am not going to waste my time trying to convince him he is a brilliant little footballer who is a top notch signing

...you've just wasted time explaining you wouldn't be wasting time.

              That's awesome.

I dont think so. You do seem to be very negative about us at the moment though. It is no where near as bad as you are making out.

Undefeated in 8, one foot in the next round of the Europa League, and Suarez the leagues top scorer. All with a piss weak squad, and a new style for the team (I know its not new for Liverpool, but its new for the players)

I'd hate for the crowd to turn on him when we haven't seen him playing where we signed him to play for any period of time. He should be getting all the support in the world just now.

And you believe these are realistic expectations? How quickly do you think we should achieve this?

Even with an unlimited budget, to completely alter our way of playing takes more than half a season and one transfer window - it takes YEARS. On Rodger's budget it will inevitably take longer. (And yes, I know what you're going to say about FSG not be suitable owners - point taken, but thats for another thread).

If that style of football is what you want, you're going to need to be a little more reasonable about how quickly it can be achieved otherwise you're just going to be disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see that style of football myself, I just think its going to take a good few years to get there. And it wont be easy either - we'll have plenty of poor results beforehand as the players get used to things.

We are going to have a tough season ... get used to the idea, be patient and lets rise above the ****ing dross that is the modern day football fan and show a wee bit of intelligence and support the team through this difficult transition

I want to be positive, I honestly do. But what I am watching recently is generally starting to really worry me.

Fact is we are 11th in the league, out of the League Cup, needing to win in Udinese to get out of a pretty **** group in the Europa, playing a LB at LW and a LW at LB. Passing almost for the sake of it and most of that in our own half. And the ease at which Swansea run at us and penetrated the back 4 was just astonishing at times, I mean FFS we made Routledge look like Messi a couple of times!

I am just frustrated with it all right now tbh. And the over hyping of some of our players is starting to do my nut in as well.

I like what BR is trying to do, but IMO some of his decisions in the last couple of weeks are starting to look a bit desperate.

I know mate, patience is the key but I am really tested when I keep reading how good Enrique is as a LW and how good Allen is and how he is the equal of Xavi and Busquets. FFS.

With respect Nicey, saying things like this is only going to annoy people isn't it? You are suggesting a negative attitude and general lack of enthusiasm towards the current situation shows a lack of intelligence. Showing support and offering intelligent criticism are not separate things. Are they? I know you dont mean to call Tee or whoever stupid. But it certainly seems like you have the view that because he isn't positive, he is wrong.
