Unfortunately, Rodgers has a mammoth task on his hands that will require time to be able to show the fans what he already knows he is capable of. That is turning our club into a force again. It is far too early to judge Rodgers. 2 years at the least he should be given as breathing space as we are now just going in circles. After 2 years then we can look at how we are progressing. This is not something you can turn around after a few months.

What happened to day zero ... its going to take time... we want to see a new style of play being developed, we'd begrudgingly accept mid table if there was progress on the pitch. Those two previous owners did serious serious damage to this club, we are still recovering, the true fact of the matter is we are at least 2 years off getting back to our previous strength ... sure in an ideal world with some luck or better yet no bad luck we can make a solid push for 4th in the 2nd half of the season, but that well may not happen. We need to have the patience to see this through.

An est 1892 favorite I know The Anfield Wrap a podcast I enjoy were sensibly suggesting we accept this as an extremely transitional season, for the first time in years a temporary resetting of expectation needed to be set, and progress on the pitch not necessarily the table needed for this season anyways to be the priority ... fast forward 2 short months and its all "its a results business" well its not a business its a ****ing journey and we need to be mature enough to ignore the narrative, and concentrate on the long term health of this once great club.

For me football is all about stories, ours up until recently was all about being work man like, grinding out results, more recently turning into the Spurs of old, all our fears were realized, we have been on the slide for a long time, ever since those two dopes started to argue in public and the day they let Rafa go. We went from being proud, decent, a footballing club to just an absolute circus, and it got worse with Roy and I am sorry but worse with Kenny. The Liverpool story was less and less about football and all about scandal.

Today our story is football, the headline is talent, the results may not have come, but for me there is a sense that there is committed people committed to sticking to the plan until the pieces are in place or one of two results go the other way, shooting us up the table.
With a manager who wants to play football, who understands the fans, who has the balls to play young players, to not play senior players and to make bold tactical moves mid game which thus far have paid off.

For me nothing has changed, FSG I like, they continue to find there feet in a new sport, the manager is my kind of football manager and a potential legend in waiting ... I can easily see his face added to that famous flag. The team is full of exciting young talent, Sterling, Suso, Borini, Allen, Shevely, there is a real changing of Guard happening here .

I guarantee we have caught the attention of the more astute football fans of other top clubs in England, the same way I could see Spurs muscling into 4th 3 years before it happened. We keep these players, we add more Rodgers signings, we perfect the system, we will achieve great things and enjoy the ride along the way.

Oh god, are we still not over that one yet? Yup, he's the only manager in the history of football ever who could possibly be a success at Anfield

In his first season at Anfield, with a better squad imo and more experience than Rodgers has, and in a league with no Man City mega£££, we finished 37 points behind the leaders having lost 11 away games. Luckily, something else happened that season to guarantee he would get time to attempt to implement his ideas properly.

I find it incredible that some people are already intent on seeing Rodgers fail after only a dozen league games with our lightest squad in many years.

Excellent post MrNice. I think the only points that matter are the ones that keep us in the Premier League while we transition. They won't be a problem.

I've said all along that we will be amazing and **** along the way. It's easy to punish us but we are playing against elite players who aren't changing their systems.

In time we will become a ****ing amazing team and we'll start winning back to back league titles. I can see the big picture and I can say with certainty that we'll have a great stadium, consistent footballing philosophy and management structure that will live beyond anyone currently at the club (Barcelona, Apple, Disney are good examples of how this works).

It's frustrating for sure but enjoy what we all know is coming!

This club needed so much transition after the miss-management off the last 2 years. Why are people expecting miracles when its clear that our owners have told rodgers to clear out the crap and under performing high wage earners and 'get the house in order' before big squad investment can take place.
So bringing the youth through and clearing out the crap is first on the agenda and rodgers has done that succesfully to a large degree and implemented a playing style that he believes can take us forward and imo will take a bit more time and a bit more quality before we really see its complete benefits.
Peoples knee jerk reactions and constant sniping at rodgers beggers belief this early into his tricky and tightly restricted tenure. These are the same people calling for Benitez's head whilst he wrked under terrible circumstances 'diffefent but still very hard imo'.

Some people really need to remember that they need to show some support and not constantly dig as it's quite frankly embarresing for LFC.

The bit in bold is like an LFC cliche. To me, it's the people who didn't want Rafa or Kenny sacked that are making the digs. Some don't even realise it. For example, we've had a few posters saying 'If it was up to me, I'd bring back Rafa tomorrow' just a few weeks ago. I hate comments like these because it does nothing other than show a subconscious lack of support toward Rodgers and a serious delusion that if we brought him, or someone of his ilk in, we'd be competing for 4th without factoring in the external variables that we now face.

We're stuck in a cycle of wanting managerial change after a few months of poor results. We've become what we've dreaded to become, as though we have a divine right to have access to world class managers who are expected to propel us into the top 4 at the first attempt.

Rodgers has the ruthlessness, the vision, the tactical flexibility and the understanding of this club. These are the qualities we hoped to find in a manager.

Some forget that we're now in a league where Tottenham and Manchester City are now major forces. Newcastle Utd are also hovering around our position and Everton continue to defy the bitter odds. This league is completely different to the one under Houllier and Benitez.

We hoped to follow a model of young, quality players, yet here we are, following that whether it be out of circumstance or choice, and still, some aren't happy. I remember the summer of 2009 when we were linked with Tevez and Silva, and people were whinging about them then. Oh how wrong they were. People whinged about swapping Carroll with Tevez. Now we'd bite their hands off.

Seriously, the signs are out there on the pitch. The only problem we have is selling that vision in a fierce, competitive league.
