Therefore, regardless of class, upbringing etc - you can play the game. Players come from a variety of backgrounds, including Britain's finest council estates because it's simple and accessible.

As Lil Luis has alluded to, a rags-to-riches story is more romantic than rich person, gets richer, so you hear about it more.

To be fair, we're seeing an improvement on Downing, Henderson etc after half a season of Rodgers' coaching (whatever that might be). It could be argued that Cole was 'contributing' (I can think of no other adjective) and Carroll was cut loose.

Coates is a curious one, but then, I don't rate him so I'm not particularly irked and Sahin seems to love his own face, so perhaps Rodgers felt his time would be more beneficial with Downing and Henderson.

Either way, Rodgers gets his chat on waaaay too often.
