It's a fair point, he has a choice on stuff like this unlike a lot of the other crap. Maybe it's part of a strategy to keep the media onside, which we haven't really done for years, but it's probably not really necessary for that.

Well if that handshake had been at the beginning that much would have been clear. At the end of a post, however, it can also be used as to condescend. To signify that someone is most welcome for your bestowing wisdom upon them. Much like you used it above

Anyway, I agree. I wouldn't go as far as to call it embarrassing, but I don't think it's a great PR move.
