That's an interesting way of looking at it.

Squad depth will be our issue I'd imagine but I'm happy with how we're moving forwards as a club again.

I was hoping Aspas would be a good addition and give us another option without dropping any quality but it didn't happen. I know it sounds daft to say the signing of Aspas could be costly but unless he chips in I think we're an attacking player short again this year.

EDIT: As well as not replacing Shelvey because we're really light in the middle.

We could do with some additional fire power and some cover in midfield but we've done pretty well so far this season, I just can't see us last the course to be in with a shout to challenge, top 4 however I think we can give a real go

I've never even seriously considered winning the league as a possibility to be honest, we have had some very generous fixtures and haven't really performed well yet. I know that can be turned into a positive because we're still picking the points up but if we continue like this all season I can see it costing us.

We'll fight for 5th with Everton. I'm convinced Utd will finish no higher than 7th. In fact, I wish I could stick a Tenner on it

You probably could at most bookies. They'd be happy to lay that bet and you would probably get 6/1 min if not 8 or 10's

Sounds crazy but I'd be content with 5th, whilst the overall quality at the top has dropped the league is now far tighter. I think we will be in and amongst it all season, where we finish though I have no idea

                  Cheers

I once asked for odds on Michael Owen becoming the leading England scorer before his 30th birthday. Thankfully I thought 10/1 was too stingy and never placed the bet. He was 17 at the time

                    Really ? Content ?

I'd hate it, to just miss out would be painful in the extreme, and could set us back more than people think, because the sides above us would improve by being able to attract better players, and so it would only get more difficult which could null and void any improvements we make.

Maureen would have his feet well and truly back under the table at Chavski, building a side with his own purchases.

Arsenal would imo continue to attract a better class of player now they've taken the plunge.

Moyes would be a year into the job at UTD, so no worries there But City under Pellegrino will only improve imo, and Spurs with ABC could become more consistent; being able to attract good players having Champs league football should they be one of the top 4 that push us into 5th.

We really need that position, i couldn't be content without it, not football wise anyway, i'm not saying i'd be sat weeping at my pc day in day out, but as far as football go's; i'd be gutted.

Not to mention our better players becoming targets for clubs in Europe.

Those massive nights! massive games! massive atmosphere! i love it!

But, I'm getting used to LFC not being in the Champions league, and i hate it!

It's what we do ffs! It's one of the reasons this club is so famous. Lets get the **** back where we enjoy being. It's already been far too long, we all know it.

I'm being realistic, I'd be gutted of course but it's going to be so tight for the top four this season that if we did just miss out I could probably handle it as long as we were in with a shout to the end.

I don't want another season(s) of being miles off the pace by December and fwiw I don't think we will be this season.

think City and Chelsea will occupy the first 2 spots quite comfortably. And then you can perm any 2 from 3 but probably 4 with United.

Arsenal will meltdown at some point, Spurs have the squad but lets see how AVB's tinkering works out and we have the best strikeforce in the league but no depth.

If it's going to be so tight though, why is it 'realistic' to think we'll be the ones to just miss out ?

Is'nt it just as realistic to think any of the others could be the ones to **** up ?

It's for that exact reason that i'd be more gutted than ever to just miss out, becasue of the season we have right now, the circumstances and unknowns, the start we've made, the start others have made, all of this combines to make this a very opportunistic season for a club in our stage of regeneration, and one i think we really must make the most of.

I did say IF we miss out but based on the previous 4 seasons we have further to jump up & therefore being realistic we might just miss out makes sense to me, obviously I want us to get into the top 4 etc....

The jump from 7th to 4th+ is big and I'm not saying we can't or won't do it! this is by far the most optimistic I've been in years but I'm not going to get all depressed if we do just miss out.

It'd be sickening not to get there but much like Spurs before us we'd be seen as a team heading the right way and that also is important.
