Thanjk you.

hes the typical example of a manager that can't do anything and England appointed him ffs
I was very critical of BR last season and although im fully behind him im waiting for the results on the pitch.
prophetic words sound great from a position of strength but just deluded otherwise. I like him as a person but am yet to think hes a proper LFC manager.
Lets see.
Surely signs that he's growing into the job are encouraging no? You're the ultimate cynic.

not sure if thats correct. we're reverting back to a 433 when it didnt work last season and 4231 which suits us - is only used to get us out of the ****.
ive already said i like him and i want him to succeed but for me to be impressed by him as a manager, its results that are important. not the way he speaks or comes across on talksport.
people talk about the back end of the season and i agree it was amazing but we played without any real pressure on us. two new lads came in but by then we were already miles off the pace. the same happened when kenny took over from hodgson - we played superb without the pressure but when it came to crunch time we werent anywhere near the top.
last season i was very excited about what was to come. this season im less so.

there is a whiff of something in the air... maybe its expectation
last year was all about settling in, updating the style of play, clearing out the dead wood high earners and bringing in some new faces.
this is starting to look like a new team, with plenty of attacking options. i have to say that things are starting to look good, like we have turned a corner. brendan looking like his make over and fitness plan is doing the biz, and he is much more confident and controlled with the press. less cliched, more focussed, looking and sounding like the leader we have been missing.
step up, Brendan
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
Most of us said that happily we would not judge Brendan while he implemented his plan. As such I wasn't concerned about making it in to Europe last season, and am happy we have no such distraction for this season He had an expectation free season, IMO, and this year he'll be afforded time to improve us but deep down I expect the owners want a genuine challenge for 4th.
The relentless way we seem to be pressing to get the ball back is the most striking aspect of his tactical set up. We can certainly improve, but his ideas are getting across nicely and it's impressive after a year in charge.
Rodgers is a great communicator and I am not surprised.

The passing and movement have become more direct now in many ways, with a higher tempo. But the workrate has really gone up a few notches too.
12 months ago some on this forum failed to see the vision that Brendan was trying to put in place with limited resources (i.e. players that had no idea how to play this way). 12 months later he has the players (and now the fans) that understand the philosophy totally.
I'm agreeing with you, but just qualifying that the pass, pass, etc, you mention above was inevitable in the evolutionary process that has led us to where we are today.
No excuses insists Rodgers as Liverpool embark on a top four finish
16 Aug 2013 23:00
A strong final few months to the previous campaign has raised hopes of an improvement on their seventh place finish
Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool cannot afford to look for excuses as they aim to meet the increased expectation of a genuine challenge for Champions League qualification.
The Anfield outfit kick-off the Premier League season when they host Stoke City, with a strong final few months to the previous campaign raising hopes of an improvement on their seventh place finish.
However, while many of Liverpool’s rivals have strengthened, Rodgers has found it difficult to attract quality reinforcements given the lack of Champions League football.
But the Northern Irishman remains determined to find a way of ensuring the club can return to the top table of European football.
“No doubt there will be calls for us to improve every year but that’s not new, that’s not unexpected,” said Rodgers. “It’s what you expect at a big club.
“We want to make improvements and believe we will. I believe we will be stronger this year.
“The measure will always be the Champions League and the big European competitions. I think the problem is if you start to think about it being unfair then you just anchor yourself and it’s hard to move on then.
“I can stand here and make excuses, I can say (Manchester) City have spent £90 odd million and other teams already in there have got stronger and reinforced as a group, but that won’t help my job here.
“I can make enough excuses but it’s not going to solve anything. We have got to fight for our life, with our play; play with the type of football that can maybe be different and get players in who are hungry.
“If you are in those top echelons you can maybe attract another type of player but I’m not going to bleat and moan about it being unfair, I just need to get on with the job and do the best I can.”
Having failed to lure several targets, Rodgers is hopeful of a deal for Anzhi Makhachkala left winger Willian after the Brazilian expressed an interest in moving to Anfield.
In terms of numbers, Liverpool’s squad is no better off than last year after making four signings and shipping out four senior players, the most recent of which was Stewart Downing this week to West Ham United.
“It’s unfortunate for some players but we had to do that,” said Rodgers. “We are in a situation not like some clubs, where they can just stockpile players and fill up the group and afford to keep them.
“We have had to move some out to get some in. But what we have now is players coming in with an understanding of how we work.
“We are confident in the next couple of weeks we can add to the team. And if we do that we are going to be in a real good position.
“Where we sit at the minute is a real good base and a couple of more it could really improve our chances.”
Rodgers also remains in the market for a centre-back but admits “it has to be the right one”.
And he added: “There’s a lot work that’s been done. A lot of finance has been rejigged and when he have to manage that the best we can to compete.
“But that’s the job, I knew the job I was coming into. Liverpool has to be sustainable club and I repeat four years ago it almost went into administration. So that’s the part of it.
“It doesn’t change the pressures and shouldn’t. That’s why I wouldn’t want to be at any other club.”
Rodgers must decide whether to throw fit-again Daniel Sturridge into the starting line-up today or hand Iago Aspas a full debut up front, while Daniel Agger should be fit to partner Kolo Toure at centre-back after missing Liverpool’s final two pre-season friendlies.
I wonder if we'll get to a stage when players we thought are out of reach start knocking on the door wanting to be a part of this. Probably pie in the sky but it's a nice thought

I don't know where you get that we played superb under Dalglish. The season got worse the longer it went on and we were in free-fall in the second half of the season. We were losing for fun and finished in our first top-flight finish since we were relegated in 1954.
Last season was the reverse. After Rodgers had shipped out some of Dalglish's deadwood our season got better the longer it went on and we played some great stuff. We finished on an upward curve and, having added to the squad astutely, I see no reason why we won't make real progress this season. After all the teams above us last season were pretty average and it won't take a massive leap to move up the table
