They were ****e, fair enough, but he is constantly meddling with the defence, a defence that includes a rookie btw and using both Moses and Sterling was strange IMO. I also think it was plain to see very early on that we would struggle. Personally I think he underestimated Hull badly.

I agree with that. I think both he and the players were complacent. Totally got his selection wrong (even though I still think on paper we should have walked that game with the team we had) and he needs to learn from that. We don't look anywhere near solid defensively and that is due to his constant changing of CB pairings

Ha done a good job in general and the stats show we have improved since he came on board so I'm happy he's here. He's still learning on the job himself so there's bound to be the odd slip along the way. His transfer record is quite poor though so I wouldn't be in any hurry to be offering him new contracts. He has a year and a half left on his current one, no rush.

To be fair, he wasn't the only one

Sterling looked the same as he always has, ie toothless.

It looked to me like 3 lads playing behind Suarez, none of whom were prepared to offer width. Lucas has become clumsy and his influence on games is dwindling. Gerrard was industrious but his passes were intercepted constantly putting Lucas under pressure again. Henderson ran around like a headless chicken but was pretty ineffective.

I texted a mate at 1-1 during the game and simply put 'we're playing ourselves in to trouble'. We were to pedestrian and tried far too hard to pass the ball in the centre third. Brendan's Xmas list should be someone to carry the ball out of defence, a ball winner in midfield and width. He has two of the first in Agger and Sakho and they were unable to make it on to the pitch, he has wingers unwilling to play wide and Lucas is our ball winner except he's pre-occupied tidying up other's mistakes.

**** me one really bad result and it's back to the same old stuff being repeated ad nauseam.

We were very poor yesterday of that there is no doubt and perhaps the selection wasn't quite right but as Darkon has mentioned we're still in the top 4 and well within a shout for the top 4.

Some perspective on here sometimes would be nice to see.

its not just one bad result making people scramble for the life boats

any team can have a loss to a lesser team, although we really didnt see this one coming. for me its identifying our weaknesses and then asking if our recent purchases are addressing these areas. it would seem not.

we were 2nd, but often we have scraped by. teams know that if they step out another ten yards, compress the play, press our midfielders, we will crumble like wet biscuits.
i didnt want to have to say this again, but... there is a lack of beef and man strength.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

And yet you've just said we didn't see this one coming.

A true test of a team and a managers credentials are how they deal with the result and come back from it in the next match. The derby is never a game to base how we're doing on as form generally goes out of the window.

We obviously need a good team performance on Wednesday and it'll be interesting to see how BR and the team reacts.

we didnt see it coming because we saw how 'even palace' beat hull. maybe as fans we are mostly/always optimistic but we need to hope the manager has the team frothing at the mouth ready to go out there and rip them up. there didnt seem to be any drive or spirit from the team.
rodgers should have considered making some changes earlier to make the players realise that sub standard effort will not be tolerated.

I wasn't condemning the team Rich, just making observations on the game we'd just played and what was missing

Actually I had a feeling, I predicted 1-0 to Hull in the prediction thread. There is something wrong with the team and Brendan, maybe just complacency but I never thought we were going to win Hull. I also have poor feeling about Norwich. I also said some time ago that we'd start to slide down after a good start, we are not that much better off than last season using comparative games.........

It wasn't aimed at you mate, just a general comment to be honest, there just never seems much balance it either dreadful and the world is ending or well actually people don't post when we win

There is no doubt some of BR purchases have been underwhelming and questionable to say at least and it does not appear that money was well spent in general but at the same time he did buy Sturridge and Coutinho, which have been excellent for the most part.

He is a young manager with limited amount of experience at the highest level who made and will continue to make mistakes and we will need to accept that at this point in time. It is too early to judge him overall atm and make any radical decisions.

For me he needs to pick his starting 11 and stick with it.

Changing CBs paring every week is bringing instability and imbalance to the team and that has to change.

In addition, he needs to address the issue with the midfield as no one there as well as in other positions should be guaranteed a place in the starting lineup unless they earn it.

Sack the vole. He's spent millions on a set of teeth and we've lacked bite at Hull.
                                Are we winning?
