    It's just such monumental waste.

That article Marcus posted really boiled my piss

Out of interest, anyone know if any of the supposed Rodgers signings have come from outside the premier league? If he has consolidated his position, will we be mainly shopping in the Premier League in future transfer windows?

How is this a system that is going to work?

I think a lot of this seems to come from a determination to create a narrative. The club works slightly differently to others and has made decisions people outside it don't seem to understand (like keeping Rodgers and ditching coaching staff) but nonetheless weave into a story.

Other than Sakho is there really a case for any of the other players starting on footballing grounds? Even with Sakho you could make the argument that if you want a settled CB pairing then Sakho's injuries make him a less compelling option.

That's not to say things have been done or planned well more that it is a bit early in the season for grand statements. There is the feeling of PR or at least looking to help a relationship with Rodgers to a lot of the pieces coming out at the minute. If the less than coherent nature of our squad is Rodgers fault then we should have sacked him.

.... one game early in the season is not necessarily going to lead us to making the most accurate conclusions.

We're the only 'top' club in the PL where it's a crisis when players aren't picked.
Every other PL club is allowed a squad, we have a first team and anyone not in it is an 'outcast' or 'available for sale' according to the media.

Lucas cannot play in this team, he just isn't mobile enough anymore after his injuries, he's been on his way out for 12-18 months now.
Moreno missed a bit of pre season and Gomez is the more defensive option away to Stoke.
Sakho is the strange one that most of us agree on, however Lovren played as well as we've seen on Sunday and if he continues with that then fair play but every club needs a strong squad and Sakho gives us that.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Don't forget that if we did know what the reason was for Sakho not playing it would be "a disgrace and we should do things behind closed doors" comments.

Going into radio silence nearly all summer (how often do we not hear from Henry, his wife, or Rodgers?) meant there must have been some loud noises in private.
The problem is only rectified IF Brendans buys prove successful frankly I think Brendan has as many question marks against him in this department as the committee does (Allen, Borini, Lovren..). It will also only be rectified if his selections of his players prove to be better than those hes left out (I'd argue Sakho is a much better player than Lovren so again there are question marks against him)

Successfully identifying the problem and actually resolving it are 2 entirely different things and its impossible to say whether we have done either of those things successfully yet

No matter who initiated any transfer of course Rodgers puts out the best team possible. He's not a five year old ffs...

absolute need for a squad and for good players for all positions

but sakho should have at least been on the bench. We had Kolo instead incase there were injuries to Lovren/Skrtel

Nobody is suggesting he's acting like a five year old.

Do you not recognise that managers can sometimes have favourites, or players that they (wrongly) don't trust or are unwilling to give space to develop?

Whichever manager it is, it is damn frustrating as a fan.

Still, he's the manager and it is his responsibility at the end of the day. At least responsibilities, and accountabilities, are a little clearer now if media briefings are to be believed.

I think it's entirely natural though to be a bit frustrated at the treatment of Sakho last season or playing players out of position rather than specialists.

Still, that is more a hangover from last season. We're one game in, maybe things will be different this year. I'm glad he's been given another season to get things right.

Bloody Sakho! It was he and Skrtel in the middle last season when we conceded 6 at Stoke!

Yes there were other problems that contributed to that result, but feck me, he's not the missing magic ingredient, in fact he's extremely bloody average, not the quality we need to improve at all.

Hes still a better player than Lovren

I don't see that he's exclusively frozen out the committee signings. He didn't play Borini or Lambert last season unless he absolutely had to.

Loaning out Moreno & Markovic would completely stupid.
