He still has something to offer but he shouldn't be a guaranteed starter & he should never be played in that deep holding/defensive midfield position. Even for set pieces he has deteriorated, corners though were never his strong point.

Guy is a legend and everyone hates saying negative things about a guy who literally has carried the club for over a decade.. but we do look much more balanced and a better side without him.

It's sad that Fat frank seems to be offering more in his limited role than Stevie is these days. People say he has a role to play but I struggle to see what that is. He's brought very little to the table this season, maybe through being used too much. I wanted him moved into forward positions because of his goal threat but that seems to be gone too sadly.

Had he got any tactical acumen he would have adapted like Carrick or Lampard. He hasn't and it was one of the reasons he was pushed forward under Rafa as he was a liability in centre midfield.
