it would be nice for gerrard to be able to go knowing we had adequately replaced his contributions but we really dont have another player who is as good as him.
he might not have the legs to do the running or pressing but with enough runners around him he is well worth his starting place to help distribute the ball and keep things ticking over around the box.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Aye - come the sticky situation, so to speak, 11 players will look around the pitch at one another and not see SG and know they are ordinary.Originally posted by RedRum View PostWho's going to bail us out next season?
Too many internet 'experts' on here too willing to have a go at SG too readily. Without a big spend to replace him (or beg or bribe him to stay on) I just see us as perpetual mid-table mediocrity.Last edited by mick the click; 05-01-15, 11:09 PM.

Seriously? Be realistic, there are two factors, firstly we were playing League Two opposition, and secondly he bust a gut to get to the header because he's interested in playing again now that he's decided he's leaving, whereas he's looked distinctively not arsed for the majority of the season to date.Originally posted by Tee View PostStill our best player. Didn't look past it last season when we were flying. I can't wait to see the same people who Say he should go bemoaning his loss next season. No Stevie G tonight and we would have been out the FA cup.

They will know that they won't be able to hide behind Gerrard when the flack comes and will react, as they have when he's not been playing this season.Originally posted by mick the click View PostAye - come the sticky situation, so to speak, 11 players will look around the pitch at one another and not see SG and know they are ordinary.

One announcement and one reasonable performance against a League Two side and people go completely OTT.

So without him, we are ****ed against league two opposition.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostSeriously? And every player should bust a gut every game.
And your second point is frankly, utter bollocks.

Hard to see how we replace a performance like tonight - 2 vital goals.
It seems bizarre that he is leaving, I mean he doesn't work as a sitting midfielder, but you can see his quality tonight. The way Utd handled Giggs retirement would have been perfect for Gerrard... Just manage his games.Modifying post.

No it's not. He's looked a shadow of his former self for most of the season, letting players run past him etc.Originally posted by Icon View PostSo without him, we are ****ed against league two opposition.
