I don't want to get an earful for pointing out the truth but he gave the ball away in our defensive third more than once.

Most other players would have got a right ****ing mouth/eay/keyboard full for that

I think the fact he is busting a gut v league 2 opponents speaks volumes about the man. He is the reference point, the example. And he showed he really still is our best player.

Yup, seriously. They were League 2 opposition. We were really that poor!

I think the 'slip' will have affected him massively, he may never get over it really. And he certainly lost his mojo. Now leaving will most likely reinvigorate him.

It is LFC who have a problem when Gerrard leaves though not Gerrard. Match winning performances like tonight are priceless, hard to see who elsein the squad has that in their game.

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

I agree, and Brendan obviously agrees with the appeal to the owners to replace him with a major purchase. But regarding today, we shouldn't be needing to win against Wimbledon with a freekick from distance. If the team was more functional, particularly the defense and striker then we wouldn't find ourselves in such as position of dependency.

Played well tonight I thought, was like watching the Stevie of old.

I think he deserves for us all to cut him some slack regardless of how poor he's been this season, myself included.

This decision has clearly been on his mind for some time and has weighed on him massively.

Let him get on with what he does best, being a fantastic footballer scoring amazing goals but most of all playing for the club he loves the most. He deserves more respect than what some are showing him.

I certainly hope you are correct.

One announcement and one reasonable performance against a League Two side and people go completely OTT.
"OTT"???? I don't think anyone described him as a genius tonight did they?

He's been played further forward a few times in the league and had no impact whatsoever. We beat league two opposition and he got two great goals but I won't get carried away. If he's getting picked though that's the only place I'd play him.

He did well getting the goals but it was nowhere near watching the Gerrard of old - the Gerrard that could take over large chunks of the game with swashbuckling power against top-class opposition.

The header was his first goal from open play this season.

                          4 penalties, 2 free kicks.

So, as Shearer commented when Lineker said something similar, "Don't they count?"

Is he the only player in the world who can score them?

Obviously not. So to leave him on the pitch when he is past his best is a little foolhardy
