If he can maintain that sort of disciplined role then he could prolong his career because he was brilliant.
Really controlled and effective display. He is our best player, and has been the best player for England so far in this tournament.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

In his earlier years he would always bomb forward and chase the game, hence he'd always get bossed by the likes of Keane and Viera.Originally posted by Chris View PostHopefully this puts the utter nonsense that "he cant play centre mid" "he's too thick to play there" etc etc to bed. I'd always try and have him further forward or on the right but he's a boss central mid aswell and always has been.
In his later years I never wanted him in CM as he was always at least our 2nd best attacking player.
Now, I think he may have to drop back. Rodgers likes his 433. I have to say, I was always of the thinking that Lucas would take the deep lying role ala Leon Brittain for Swansea.
But seeing Gerrard in this tournament, makes me think he would be better suited, with the energy of Lucas more suited to the Joe Allen role. Especially as Gerrard has a much better range of pass than Lucas.
What really matters though is we bring in players who can score without needing Gerrard to be the saviour all the time. Maybe then we can finally allow ourselves to trust him in a deeper role.Forwards.......

What a perfformiad that was.
He was immense tonight.
Passing was the best I've seen for some time. He was disciplined and helped encourage his team mates, helped them when some were down and their heads had gone.
Was positive and forward thinking, a driving force all across the pitch smashing people off the ball but in a fair, strong and competitive way and tracking back all the time.
Crossing was ace and was miles above everyone else and helped England perform a vast improved attacking performance.
Brilliant. It's a travesty that he was not England captain sooner as I'm sure they'd have been a much better more successful team.
We're lucky he's ours. I still think he's carrying some weight though.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Best of a very bad bunch tonight, for fear of somewhat overselling his overall performance and impact on the game.
Getting no help at all in midfield from Parker's headless chicken impression, Young's amazing ability to concede possession and Milner's inability to actually play football.
Not being helped by Roy's archaic setup either."I will make the boys feel your support"

Did you not seem him sporting his 6 pack the other day with Carroll looking on in admiration?
Not an ounce of fat on him
Oh and "perfformiad"?

He's dog****e. Cant pass and he's one of the worst readers of a game I've ever seen. Chase, chase, chase and while 1 time in 8 he'll put in one of his "brave" blocks, the other 7 times he looks like a complete **** and leaves a massive gap.Originally posted by McDermotX View PostGetting no help at all in midfield from Parker's headless chicken impression
