Yes, Sorry... I do that sometimesOriginally posted by Fierce View PostNo. Because a world class player would replace Gerrard, and if last season is anything to go by, there isn't a player in world football that could do that
I would like to see a more defensively minded player that could play alongside/as well as Gerrard, or in his place for certain games given the amount we'll be playing next season
But a world class player would be a guaranteed starter, and I personally feel that Gerrard should remain first choice there, and that we should play the same formation that served us so well this year
So. Mascherano for decent money, but not a big enough number to mean he HAS to start

This is true - sorry about that. I had 3 kids in 2 years. Kind of stopped me from posting as much nonsense as I wanted to. Consider yourself luckyOriginally posted by Muddled View PostTo be honest babe, I thought you'd have been logging in to this thread as soon as his studs slipped the turf against Chelsea. I could understand if your opinion of Gerrard was posted alongside other nuggets on these forums, but you come in here, parp some nonsense about Gerrard and disappear quicker than a fart in the wind.
Can I take you on a guided tour around the other threads Est1892 has to offer?
I think Gerrard offered too little on the final 1/3 - I think BR thought the same. It was great that it worked out so well moving him back.
Love the guy and I'm gutted for him. I think that slip will stay with him for the rest of his life - without losing the intensity...

I dont think there is any room for romance in football and Gerrard is closing in on 34. I dont ever want to see Mascherano in red again. Totally overrated in my book. A wave of inconsistency.Originally posted by Fierce View PostNo. Because a world class player would replace Gerrard, and if last season is anything to go by, there isn't a player in world football that could do that

Gerrard is the king and he will stay until he is ready to leave - and well deserved - so it should be. But we need to start working on rebuilding that midfield sooner rather than later. Will Lucas ever get back to his old form before the injury - i doubt it tbh? Joe Allen - IMO he is cover and sub and always will be.
To compete in CL we need some serious work on that defensive midfield.
If I could chose between prioritizing the defense Flanagan/Jose Skertel/Agger/Sahko Johnson/Cover and working on the defensive midfield - I would go for the midfield. I think that is our biggest issue.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes - I have no tools to correct it here

That your posts over the last few days stated that you have previously suggested that Stevie should be moved back, that he didn't have the legs/ability to play as an attacking midfielder; but in reality, you just said that he was ****. I basically said that last season, Gerrard was irreplaceable
He'll need to be replaced in time, as will all players, but I don't think that time is now and therefore buying a world class player to sit on the bench and only play when he doesn't isn't something we could do
(Btw the 'full of ****, as usual' comment was in response to your quip of "Im spot on as per usual. Just the way it is..." - wasn't meant to sound as scornful as it did!)I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Hey Fierce - Sorry for the delay as per usual. I said he was "****" in the position that he was being used in - and I stand by that and every word I wrote about that particular issue. The way it was solved - by moving him back - was elegant and I didnt hadnt seen that solution coming. I'm happy that it was solved in that fashion. I think that I was very much alone with my views at the time and I also think that I was spot on. He wasn't giving us the end product that we needed.
I think the time is very much 'now' for a world class replacement/cover. No way Gerrard has the legs for more than 30/35 matches next season. I just dont believe it. Im confident that BR has that in mind as well. Gerrard is on the final note as a regular staring 11.
Have a great world cup. Hope England plays like Liverpool. God only knows you have been boring to watch long enough
