Living abroad is obviously not for her ... LA with money is bliss

I am definitely a happy camper expat

Yeah, but he has the Liverpool veterans team he can play for. They have fun traveling around playing exhibition games and tournaments.

He gets to play football and travel and the family get to live in bliss in Liverpool. Or should I say football millionaires Cheshire.

There is a work life balance, holidays and weekends are sacred and no pressure is applied to work on these whatsoever (phone/email). The tech companies are different, unless you are way high up and they do expect blood.

      I'd fit right in then

Running a startup is hard, I do that plus a contracting business to keep the startup going!

PS Nicey, HP sauce is available in all major supermarkets in Australia Marmite isn't though

Steven Gerrard: LA Galaxy midfielder may retire in 2016

LA Galaxy midfielder and former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard says he may retire in 2016.

"It could be my last season as a footballer. I certainly don't want to feel like I'm feeling right now come next year," Gerrard said.

"I'd love to go out on a high. It's a long season and I only came here for the last four months, but I'll certainly be better for the experience next year."

Gerrard scored twice in 14 appearances for Galaxy after joining the club over halfway through the 2015 MLS season.

He is due to return to England this week where he will work as a TV pundit before heading back to Los Angeles for pre-season training in January.

Gerrard, who won 114 England caps before retiring from international football after the 2014 World Cup, says he found some aspects of playing in the United States difficult.

"Going on the road, playing on [artificial] turf, playing at altitude, playing in humidity, those are the hurdles that I've had to face over the last three months that I wasn't aware of. Every away game has a different challenge," he said.

        You weren't aware of? Really?!

Watched him play on TV while I was in NY last week.
He looked as lost as he did for us.
Game passed him by and the one chance he had he blew badly.

Wasn't aware of how difficult it would be, not of it's existence

Yeah I get that but he should have been aware enough to not make excuses. From the limited amount of MLS I've seen it's played at a Championship level in terms of technique but it's just as physically demanding as the top two tier English leagues

Really hate it when top sportsmen/women go on playing past their peak; Pele, Ali Jordan - I know that for most it's all they know & it is difficult to stop playing but it's sad to see

Should have quit playing when he left us IMHO

Coaching 9 year olds. I certainly wouldn't want him any nearer the senior squad.

nah its bullcrap - the Independent isn't worth a damn for Sport.

The author knows Gerrard and Carra quite well. He's not a bull****ter. I don't mind if there's a clear non-playing role for him but giving him a playing contract would be nuts IMO. We need to move on.
