Thanjk you.

Let's say Rodgers never went to LFC. Let's say he stayed with Swansea for a few years and then went to Celtic and onto Leicester. Is it fair to say that he would be in consideration for the LFC job then if it came up??? I'm not too sure. I wonder would FSG want to go down the proven winner route having been so successful with Jurgen?
If Gerrard was to take over a club like Southampton, Leicester, Villa and done well, then would he still be suitable? Would Hasselhoff from Southampton be a consideration now??? Or would the Wolves fella?? Not too sure they would be.
I think the most likely way Gerrard manages LFC is either (a) Jurgen packs it in mid-season and he is a stop gap like Kenny was after Hodge. And does well that he keeps the gig or (b) Gerrard leaves rangers, returns to Jurgens back room team.
I'm not too sure that (b) is likely to happen unless Pep Ljinders left. And even then, Klopp would possibly have other candidates.
I was not saying that being a success at Rangers and then doing well at a mid sized club meant he would then be a shoe in for the job at Liverpool, just that it would be a better indicator of where he was as a manager.
One thing I do know is that Klopp is going to be a very difficult act to follow when he finally does move on. It is almost certain that the man that follows him will be a step down as Klopp is a world class manager and an arguement could be made for him to be the best club manager in the world right now and certainly the most rounded one imo. The man gets the on pitch stuff right way more often than not, but he has that even rarer ability to get the off pitch stuff spot on and his personality is such that it demands and earns the loyalty of those around him.
The closest I can think out there to a Klopp style manager, or at least to sharing some similarities to how Klopp sets up a team and how Klopp teams play, is maybe Jesse Marsch at Salzburg or maybe Julian Nagelsmann at the other RB club.
Both of them would be closer to a younger Klopp (late Mainz/early Dortmund version) than the current version of Klopp though and would be a similar gamble to hire to manage LFC as Klopp was for Dortmund to hire.
Ralf Rangnick is another that I would have seen as a Klopp replacement (maybe in an interim capacity) but age will probably be well against him when the time to replace Klopp or get an interim replacement rolls around.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Rangers performance in the Europa will be a better indication fo their quality. But the 'SPL is ****e and doesn't mean anything' stuff can be overdone. People used to say that about Virgil...
Lijnders for me.
I think Gerrard could be a disaster.
If gerrard comes back then it would be good for him to be assistant to Lijners for a few years.
Taking over from klopp is a bit of a poisoned chalice, where as for Pep it has more continuity and less of a new man and new routine.

I think there are a few on here underplaying what Stevie might be about to achieve at Rangers.
Celtic have won the SPL 9 - NINE - on the bounce, during which time Rangers basically went out of existence. The team he inherited were duking it out with Aberdeen in the battle for second (and losing), with less resources than Celtic.
The squad he took over had no institutional memory of winning titles - unlike Brendan who took over with Celtic already firmly on top. Plus, as an Englishman whose lived in Scotland, I promise you there is nowhere in the world with more pressure on teams/managers to win every week than there is in Glasgow on Celtic/Rangers. It’s everyone’s cup final when they play the Old Firm. Exactly the kind of expectation and intensity a Liverpool manager can expect, and a step up from Lampard guiding Derby to 6th in the Championship.
It might be that Stevie needs to replicate his success somewhere else before he gets a shot at Liverpool, but what had Jurgen really done at Mainz before he went to BVB....? Stevie and Lindjers could be the dream ticket.

I agree.
He needs to bring home trophies but i barely gave Rangers a fighters chance to be any where near what they've done.
I'd like to see what he could do at a bigger club next though.
Stopping Celtic win 10 in a row will be a monumental achievement. They will unlikely ever be in this position again. The Celtic fans are absolutely raging which is hilarious, equally getting rid of Lennon now means whoever comes in has a thankless task for this season.
There’s plenty of negativity around Scottish football, but it has produced a few gems. A certain Virgil Van Dijk developed his game for 3 seasons at Celtic. Andy Robertson was picked up from Dundee Utd. John McGinn from Hibs. I think Stevies record this season in the League and in Europe is impressive.
I didn’t see it in him. His man management and press management has improved significantly.
Equally, he is not ready for a big club yet. He needs a few trophies first.

As he done brilliantly or is is just Celtic are **** now? I don't follow scottish football at all, but it looks to me that Gerrard has at least if not more resources than Celtic now to compete and they are suffering from the same blip that United had when Ferguson left with Todgers going and could stagnate for a while.

Celtic have been ****, but Rangers have played 16 other matches and to only concede 4 goals in 17 games is an impressive record in any league.
Likewise, topping the EL table unbeaten is not a reflection on anything Celtic have done.
Rodgers was amazing for Celtic, but even at his peak, he still struggled in europe, so will be interesting to see how Gerrard does in the knockout stages.
What are you basing the resources comment on? I don't know if they do or not BTW, but if I was guessing I'd say that they don't.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
pure guesswork, based on buying the likes of Roofe, Kent & Defoe(wages) apart from Duffy not sure who Celtic have or spent on tbh.
That goals record i soretty impressive to be fair, Definitely think he needs another club first and would worry about when **** hits the fan as could see him being rather Mardy!
He'd be mad to follow klopp even if the chance came up. Be an impossible act to follow. I would like him to get an opportunity at some point in the future though.

So you want us to be **** for a while after Klopp but before Gerrard?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
