I was wondering why this came up on Twitter, it's quotes of 2010

Benitez (Liverpool): "What Allardyce does is a model for others. As for the style of football, even Barcelona are now copying his style."

not quite 8 but close enough
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid): "The win at Almeria doesn't tell me anything. Let's see if Barca score eight goals against us on Monday!"

In defence of Little Ronny it wasn't 8 now was it, only the 5 - so he probably is as clueless about them as he was before

Dejan Stankovic: I can't forgive former Inter boss Rafael Benitez
Serbian laments manager's decision to drop him from Club World Cup final
              By Adam Scime
Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic has hit out at former coach Rafael Benitez, who was sacked days after leaving the Serbian out of the Italian side's successful Club World Cup final.

The 32-year-old did not feature in the showpiece finale against TP Mazembe in the United Arab Emirates despite playing a significant role in the 3-0 semi-final win over Seongnam Ilhwa.

"I still cannot forgive Benitez," the 32-year-old told Sportski Zurnal. "I played great in the semi-finals, scoring a goal, and he left me out of the starting line-up.

"With [Jose] Mourinho the same thing happened in the Champions League final, but you cannot compare the two situations. Before [the final in] Madrid I was injured and I had not played in Barcelona due to suspension. I was not in form, but in Abu Dhabi I was.

"Benitez's decision shocked not only me, but the whole team. Fortunately we won."

After winning the competition, Benitez was sacked and replaced with ex-Milan boss Leonardo over the winter break.

Stankovic continued: "Was Benitez sacked because of me? I don't know."

The Serbian has been a fan favourite at San Siro since signing in 2004, but he is not certain he will retire with the Nerazzurri.

"I have a contract until 2014 when I will be 36-years-old. Perhaps it'll be the right time to retire as an Inter player," he said.

"Like the national team you must leave room for young players, as they did with me recently. That's life, it's natural."

the reason he was dropped seems to have been that rafa had a plan to win 3-0 that didn't include him. no time for this whinge.

Of course he wanted to play and he had done well in the semi final, so perhaps he 'should' have played. But it's not for him to decide, the manager lives and dies by his selections and so has ultimate right to make those selections.

Very good player Stankovic but it's not his place to come out with this ****e. The team was picked, it won comfortably, job done. Whether or not Stankovic was selected, is not something a manager has to justify.

Thats because you're an old crock who cant handle 2 games in 3 days anymore. This guy seems to cry off all the time, he's a bit of a wimp for a supposed "hardman".

yeah, it's a bit strange never imagined him to be that way. Fantastic midfielder, but he does seem to be a bit of a whiner

He seems to have a way with fans that's for sure. Would love to see him back, Gerrard would probably take welcome him with both hands.
