Looks like Carlos Tevez and Gary Neville on a night out to me.

Good to see they remain friendly despite the animosity of the Tevez transfer.

In fairness, it looks like he was on the right track if only the owners had given him some money and told Purslow where to stick his real-life Football Manager impulses...

"Kenny Dalglish has hailed the managerial structure installed at Liverpool by Fenway Sports Group but cautioned it will take years before its work in the transfer market can be judged a success.

FSG, Liverpool's owners, promoted Damien Comolli to director of football and Ian Ayre to managing director last month and Dalglish is working closely with the Frenchman to identify targets for this summer despite not being appointed permanent manager as yet. Comolli and Ayre were at Ewood Park on Monday night to monitor Blackburn Rovers' coveted central defender Phil Jones against Manchester City and they presided over the signings of Andy Carroll and Luis Suárez in January, although the Uruguay striker had been on Liverpool's agenda since the final year of Rafael Benítez's reign."

It really isn't that many new transfer targets. I would say that 80% of the players we are linked with are the same players we were linked with when Rafa was our manager. It takes time to scout a player. Many times two three years, so it isn't that strange that there isn't that many new players linked with us. Rafa for example tried to sign Young before he signed for Villa. Enrique is another player that allegedly was close to sign for us before he signed for Newcastle.

In two three years time we will see more "new" players linked with us IMO but at the moment it is in many cases the same old transfer targets. The same players scouted.

Rafa probably still has some input then if that's the case.

If you can call it input. It is a different manager deciding who we will sign and a different system. In a few years time it will all be names that KK or our new manager decided to scout.

Yeah, I do know what you're getting at though Arn.

Basically every player within reason is on every big club's radar to some degree.

It really is all about letting the player know that you are interested time after time. It may take years to convince him that we are the right club but you must keep up the interest the whole time. If the player know that you wanted him for years then he will also know that you won't bench him. He will know that he will be an important player. The same thing Rafa pointed at in the book by Reade. The manager simply must know how much money he can spend so he can intensify the talks with the players he want. Put extra pressure on the players so you can get them in early.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
