He's probably got the second best squad in the league (one can could argue that Roma and Fiorentina are better as they have excellent squads too) and he hasn't been able to get them firing consistently. He's got some serious problems. Obviously he's one of the best managers around, but sometimes things aren't to be. Wonder how much time he'll get to turn it around. He showed signs last season and won the coppa, so I don't think they'll pull the trigger quite yet.

His under use of Duvan Zapata is pretty baffling to me. Looks good whenever he gets a runout, but he seems to want to play Higuian for every given minute and it seems Michu who has looked rather ponderus thus far is above him in the pecking order too.

They defo have a top-3 squad in Serie A. Only Juventus have a on paper much better squad, and arguably Roma have a slightly better. Top-3 is a must for Rafa, and I think he will get some more time to prove he can deliver it. They don't strike me as outright rash in decisions anymore.

But the pressure is there to get a team with that amount of talent working in a pretty weak league overall.

Was it last season when he has the little grumble about the owners? Can remember thinking he will be on the move again soon when I read the interview.


It looked at one point that he would turn into a top tier manager, but he really does seem to have had more downs than ups since the summer of 2009.
