I'd honestly prefer it if they only chanted his name before the game. Brendan shouldn't be undermined, he's doing a good job. Like I say, it'll be really weird to watch and I just hope we win

This was before he got the Chelsea job. It's off the FB page of a friend of mine who knows this guy who met Rafa.

        Are we winning?

That was a great read Nigey, cheers for posting.

Would it though, against Wigan his name was sung by the travelling fans, as was Rodgers - and I do not think anybody took it as calks for Rafa to replace Rodgers.

Plus it would wind the Chavs up no end.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You really needed to decide which word you wanted - "calls" or "talks."

I agree- every Rafa song should be followed by a Brendog song.

Also as I said in the other thread, Torres songs should be employed too to remind him of what he left behind.
                3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I disagree (sort of) with some of this. We should give Rafa a very warm reception when he first walks out, as we would any respected ex player or manager. But he'll be at Anfield that day as the opposition manager trying to beat us, I'm not at all sure we should be actively singing songs and supporting him while the game is being played. We've 11 players and a manger of our own we should be concentrating on at that point.

****, in this thread again, damn real time. Oooops!

Not all of our ex players/managers left in such circumstances or are having such a hard time tho, that's the difference.

Rafa deserves the warmest welcome we can give, no doubt about that because he put himself on the line for this club so many times and that should and cannot ever be forgotten.

Not for singing his name in game to be honest. Giving him a great reception is what's needed for what he's done for us. But singing his name when we have our own manager would be pretty embarassing

Oh god you're sucking me in. Sure he's getting a hard time at Chelsea because their fans are idiots. But Rafa is anything but stupid, he knew what he was walking into and went there to further his own interests. And I'm sure he's being paid a fortune for it.

I'm not at all saying we shouldn't give him a great welcome. Of course we should. But while the game is being played we should be trying to support our team and our current players / manager, not the opposition manager. **** that, seriously. You think Rafa's not going to try to beat us that day? You think us chanting his name mightn't actually encourage some of Chelsea's ****** players to try even harder to beat us to stick it to us (and even him in a way)? Maybe if we're winning 5-0 we could afford a Rafa chant, but otherwise nah, he's on the other team that day. Give him a standing ovation AFTER the game.

Rafa will probably make quite a few million from that job. He knew what he was getting into by taking it. His current plight isn't our concern and you're right, he will be sending Chelsea out to beat us. I get the love for Rafa for sure. But sorry, chanting his name mid-game would be totally wrong
