Sturridge will be back at the end of the month now, and sterling looks creamed. Rodgers wont play balotelli or Lambert so I have a feeling he will get some game time but youre right it wont be as much as now.

Nobody knows how long sturridge will stay fit for. Personally, I think we need to look to a new no.9, and if sturridge is available its a bonus but he shouldn't be the first choice striker anymore. His fitness problems are uncontrollable and a club wanting to play champions league football every season cant have its main forward miss 20 games each season.

Origi is making me think of a bulked up Milan Baros. Looking at the floor and a Lack of awareness or taking too much on. Come to think of it, maybe he's just a fast Balotelli. He's perfect for this league in that he's big, strong & fast. His pace means he can be effective in our team and he's got great dribbling and close control.

But looking at him, his final ball / shot is lacking and he needs to see the pass much faster. Clearly he's a player that will frustrate as much as delight. But he's a young kid and you have to hope he can be developed into more of a player that fits a pass & move team.

i have only seen a few clips but it looks like he is the only one doing the running at lille, others kind of drift into the box. just origi running with the ball.
at least there are a few others who can share take a share or the running and he might then benefit from the space.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

The bar to be a regular starter in his position at LFC is at its lowest in recent years these last four months. He might be coming in at the right time as he does not need to do to get regular starts over Lambert and Balotelli. Moreover once Sturridge is fit, he will need to be carefully handled. I think Origi is coming in at the right time.

Moreover his performances here over the next 4 months will give us an idea of whether we need to invest in another top quality striker in the summer or not.

If we are bringing him in this month, when is he likely to arrive? Surely given the striker situation the sooner the better.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

PFK & Poulsen beg to differ about your first sentence.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

While I'm very happy we bought him I dont see him as a striker. He'll be great for assists though. I'd rather that 3mill be put towards getting a proper striker.

I'd rather see him introduced gradually into a functioning side. We can't be piling on pressure to a young lad from abroad. We need another striker.

Divock Origi’s father speaks on his future
With reports emerging from L’Equipe today, that Liverpool are set to bring Belgium striker Divock Origi to the club this January rather than July, Belgium paper Het Nieuwsblad has managed to interview the player’s father on the situation, who has had the following to say:

“There have been no talks between the two clubs that we’re aware of. We’re also not thinking about whether a move would be a good thing or not. As of right now, Divock is staying at Lille for the next six months, and there have been no communications that suggest otherwise.”

French football expert Andrew Gibney warns Liverpool FC fans not to pile too much pressure on Divock Origi

                            Jan 04, 2015 16:10 By Joe Rimmer

The Belgian youngster's move to Anfield looks set happen this month

French football expert Andrew Gibney has warned Liverpool FC fans not to pile too much pressure on the shoulders of Divock Origi - and added that Lille will be happy to see the young striker leave.

The Reds look set to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield in the transfer window, paying Lille an extra £3m to move the forward’s transfer forward, but Gibney, who works for French Football Weekly and Bleacher Report, says the youngster has struggled this season.

He told the ECHO: “From a Lille fan’s point of view they aren’t going to miss him. He’s just not putting in 100 percent and perhaps because the rest of the team are in a relegation fight he’s just dropped to their level.

“As good as I hope he will go on to be, I don’t think they will miss him.

“If Liverpool are going to offer more money then the club will be thinking “why not?” He’s not doing enough to make much of a difference. The fans aren’t impressed with him.

“His attitude hasn’t been good and Lille fans think that his head is already in Liverpool.

“I think he shouldn’t be starting every game. They should be bringing him off the bench until he’s ready. Lille will be thinking that this is a bargain.”

Origi starred in the World Cup for Belgium, replacing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the starting line-up and earning plaudits for his performances, and goals, at the tournament.

Such performances persuaded the Reds to move quickly to snap him up and and they paid £10m for his services in the summer, and allowed him to stay with Lille for the campaign ahead.

However despite a promising start to the campaign, Origi has struggled at times for Lille this season and has scored just four goals in 24 games for the French side. That form has persuaded Lille to cash in early, and is another reason why Liverpool fans much temper their expectations, according to Gibney.

He continued: “I think it’s a little too early (for a move to Liverpool). He probably should have been left for 18 months or two years to continue developing.

“I think Liverpool fans have visions of him scoring lots of goals but they could be in for a rude awakening.

“Maybe he might improve by playing with better players at Liverpool, but there’s a lot of expectation and pressure on him now. He needs time otherwise he’s not going to do it at Liverpool.

“Maybe he will go on and prove everyone wrong - but he hasn’t been showing it this season.

“It’s funny, because the first Everton game in the Europa League Lille fans all thought he played quite well - but the English press weren’t impressed!”

Despite his poor form this term, Gibney says Origi has all the tools to be a top player in the Premier League, and says that unlike other players to come over from the French league, Origi will have no problems with the demands of English football.

“At his best he’s powerful, fast and has a good shot. At his best he can certainly make a difference,” he said.

“I think he will suit the Premier League, he won’t struggle with the physical side of the league like, say, Remi Cabella at Newcastle. He’s perhaps lacking a bit of intelligence on the field but he can gain that playing with better players at Liverpool.

“Liverpool are buying potential, in three or four years time he can be one of the best youngsters around. But he’s got a lot to prove.”
