Exactly. They club made that very clear when we signed him. People love to rewrite history though

Is it really a scramble or madness though?

We *maybe* enquired about it, they *maybe* asked for too much, we're only a couple of days into the window... seems quite normal, sane and unscramblelike to me?
I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Now all my lies are proved untrue

        I agree completely.

He's miles off the finished product at the moment, and if things continue as they were and we finish outside of the top four, I can only see it doing more damage than good. Too much expectancy on him, and he's really not very good at the moment.

The best way of getting us up the table is by recruiting a seasoned proven goal scorer.

I don’t see why anyone would think it’s detrimental to his development if he was to join us. Realistically, what is the expectancy? Surely no one is expecting him to come in and tear the PL apart, all he is needed for is to offer some relief to Sturridge and Sterling. As recent weeks have shown, we are capable and creating chances and scoring goals, as long as we have a mobile CF willing to run and stretch the oppositions defence. Bringing in a proven goal scorer won’t solve our problems, unless he has the physical attributes to go along with it, which is very unlikely with a realistic transfer budget. Even someone like Van Nistelroy in his prime wouldn’t be suited to our current system under Rodgers, so someone like Origi is the type of player we should be looking at, even if he’s far from the finished article. The money IMO would be better used to buy a new keeper or improve the midfield.

At this stage (money permitting) I don’t see any value in him staying at Lille for the remainder of the season. He has gained enough experience playing first team football there and if anything, if he’d played as many games here for us we’d probably accuse the club of overplaying him at his age. He may well struggle here and some fans may get on his back, but he certainly won’t get booed from the stands and at the very least, the club would have the power to take him out of the firing line, unlike at Lille.

I don’t see it as a desperate move at all either. Even if we were challenging for the title with Sturridge fully fit, I still think we’d have looked into bringing him back early, considering how things are panning out at Lille so far.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

i agree we should still be looking at bringing in an experienced striker. with sturridge's injury record we cannot count on his early return, nor on him staying fit.

it might also be good if we can bring origi in early if we can agree a way so it isnt costing us the 3m+ thats been mentioned. he can integrate into the 'group' and he might get a few games with sturridge.

why we dont we offer them balotelli for six months.
this would be win/win. he might get some games over there and earn himself a possible way out. if he stays here he is only stinking the place out and his potential resale value is diminishing on a daily basis.

Theres no resale value with him. We were the stupid ones to buy a player nobody wanted. The best we'll get for him is 6-7mill if he doesnt ask for high wages, which wont happen. He'll leech us till the end of the contract. I've said it before and I'll say it again- The only way we'll get a performance out of him is if we have his pet pig kidnapped.

i would hope he would look ok for lille and we might claw back some of the money we swilled away. even if it meant we got origi early for no fee then it'd be worth it. lille might think its good for marketing too.

Lille might like the idea, LFC might like the idea, but I don't think you could ever sell that to Balotelli himself.

Was racking my brains about experienced strikers who would fit our profile and be 'gettable' in January.

                              Any sensible suggestions?

Would have loved us to sign David Villa on loan, he could have done a half decent job for us IMO. What about the likes of Mario Gomes, Giuseppe Rossi?
