His goal tally does not look so bad when you look at what all the other Lille players combined scored in the league.

He got 8 league goals and the combined total for everyone else comes to 35 goals.

Out of that 35, 9 were scored by Lille's main striker Nolan Roux.

Lille are a horrible team for an attacking player to be part of and would be harsh to judge Origi on his goal return whilst part of such a negative team.

I noticed that, no wonder his form has dipped!

Divock Origi would have been ripping it up!

Average (probably below arguably), in an average team, in an average league. But, there's obviously reason why a coverer of French Football deemed his match ratings diasppointing enough to warrant his inclusion, as they'd obviously watch more of his season than anyone round here.
Might be harsh on a young player, but they are probably judging him on the fact they expected more given his presence there for the last few seasons, his couple of good showings in the World Cup, but probably more so that he's ****ing off from their league.

I think I am responsible for that, I called him Derek earlier in the thread ...Not sure who changed the title though.....

To be fair to him, he was born in 1995 so that puts him in the same age bracket as Ibe. Between playing for us and playing for Derby, Ibe has a similar number of games and probably playing minutes as Origi.

Looking at what Origi has done in terms of goals and assists in a very average team, and then taking into account he is only six months or so older than Ibe, then I think he has done alright for himself this season.

Roux, Lille's senior striker, has only 1 goal more than Origi and the same amount of assists and I have seen some media outlets praising Roux for managing to score that many in a poor Lille team.

I wonder if Origi's inclusion in the crap team of the season has more to do with how unpopular he is (was given the booing treatment a good number of times after he was linked to being recalled by us in January) than it does with his performance in front of goal.

All football nations are patriotic. Once Origi said he wanted early leave from that pointless league he became enemy number one. These ratings are as meaningless as the ones Paul Merson, etc, offer here.

And to take the Ibe analogy further, I updated in the Ibe thread that Derby fans were 50/50 split on whether they thought he was good or just a pacy player with zero game intelligence. Ibe coming to us (a poor Liverpool side) showed that Ibe was very good thank you very much and it was your crap club that was keeping him down. Where are Derby now? In the premiership battle? The survey said: "Eunk eunk"!

Seems like he's a scape goat over there to be honest.

I'm not sure he's near ready for our first team but if we can get in a quality striker a loan out to a Premier League side might answer a lot of questions.

Think he could make for a useful impact sub next season as a third or fourth choice striker/wide forward.

Assuming of course we actually bring in the sort of quality that ensures he is third or fourth in the pecking order.

Like I said, there's no definite answer, but I'm not too concerned with what he produces for Lille this season, as I'd expect his first season here to be one of little input, starting the odd cup game, coming on in others, with anything approaching a reasonable return being a bonus.
The little I've witnessed of Origi has shown us nothing more than what we've surmised already......a raw, albeit talented looking player who may or may not flourish with more experience and time. Didn't tend to stand out, even in a limited side, weak in retention of the ball, but such is they way with young players. I'm not gonna sit here and claim to have watched his every move.
However this crowd do their ratings, they've watched more of Origi than us, and felt compelled enough to label him disappointing.......that's fair enough.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but had he been here all year he would have been our primary striker and we would have looked a hell of a lot better as he has pace, power and movement. He looks a far better fit than Lambert or Balotelli. He's only a young kid but seems to have all the raw attributes needed to succeed

He'll be a good player in a couple seasons for sure. They need to understand he's not a striker.
