Started the game well, it was difficult in the conditions for a striker but overall he had a decent run out. Its never going to be easy up top on your own vs City.

I didnt watch last nights game but saw some highlights
I like this kid, he works hard, he creates space, hes prepared to run in behind and best of all he attacks balls in the box
Hes a bit rough around the edges but I think he is going to be a half decent signingBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

A replacement for Benteke, yes. If he's not sold i doubt we'll bring anyone in which would be a mistake.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostCoincidence or not, I think he's well suited to Klopp's style and might even be his preference as no.1 over Sturridge, in terms of executing his game plan.
Well whatever the situation, it's a good position to be in. If Sturridge can stay fit (IF) and with Ings back, do we need another striker?

Mentioned this on the Benteke thread, if you look at the players linked in the briefed articles there is not a strikers name mentioned but Gotez is - again. So I'm wondering if Klopp will go with Sturridge/Origi/(Firmino)/Ings if the first named has shown himself to be actually properly recovered and fit by end of the season. In a way it would fit the Klopp template which is built around a single striker supported by 3 advanced midfielders/wide attackersOriginally posted by Maxiedge View PostCoincidence or not, I think he's well suited to Klopp's style and might even be his preference as no.1 over Sturridge, in terms of executing his game plan.

He played well last night and moved their players all over the place creative space for the likes of Lallana and Firmino.

Whilst you can't knock Sturridge's ability to find the back of the net, he has certainly been lazy in his running since his return. Certain allowances are made because of his match fitness, his return from injury, etc, but I don't think it's a coincidence that our front three looked better with movement from a willing front man.
I'd reward Origi with a start against Palace and release a fresh Sturridge against Manchester United. It's well known that Sturridge didn't particularly like Suarez being number one and that pushed him on. Maybe it's time he is given another gentle kick up the arse that he still has to earn his place.Last edited by Muddled; 03-03-16, 04:32 PM.

There's also Balotelli who could get sold for around £15m to our Chinese friends.Originally posted by labourRed View PostA replacement for Benteke, yes. If he's not sold i doubt we'll bring anyone in which would be a mistake.
So might have a pot around £30m from selling our dispensable strikers...

I completely agree.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostBe looking for a lot more than £15m for Benteke no matter who is buying him! No reason why the club can't recoup most of his fee.
He hasn't been rubbish for us, just unsuited to how we're playing under Klopp, his goals per game ratio in the PL is still very good.
Even we should be able to get £25 mill for a PL proven striker. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

There's our problem.Originally posted by Rich View PostI'd start Sturridge, if fit, at the weekend but Origi is starting to look a good player, way more confident than when he arrived - and way better suited to the way Klopp wants us to play than his compatriot.
An over reliance on Sturridge, Origi did really well against Kompany and Otamendi, we won 3-0 so there's no reason to rush Sturridge back again.
I guess Klopp might pick them both?
I certainly wouldn't be picking Coutinho for the Palace game, impossible to drop Firmino and Lallana on form and output in terms of end product, both averaging more than a goal a game including assists over 5 & 7 games respectively.
Leaving both Sturridge and Coutinho on the bench gives us options if we're losing and also sends a message to them both that neither have been consistently good enough since coming back from injuryThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

don't get me wrong, I would be too but I was looking at it in a worst case scenario in terms of recoup.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostBe looking for a lot more than £15m for Benteke no matter who is buying him! No reason why the club can't recoup most of his fee.

£20m tops I reckon. But if we sell Balotelli to the Chinese as well then that gives us some money for Reus or GötzeOriginally posted by redmike65 View PostBe looking for a lot more than £15m for Benteke no matter who is buying him! No reason why the club can't recoup most of his fee.
