Yeah true that. I’d expect to see Matip & Gomez start in the cup match to give VVD time to recover from the knock to the ribs area. No concern there for me either.

So long as either matip or lovren are paired up with vvd then its clear we will still have someone who will be in control.

I think that he's 4th choice now and you can't really ask for a better option, he would probably get in about half or the PL sides first 11. It's great to have such options

I can see him being moved upto 3rd choice as Lovren's ego will not see him hang around long if one of the worlds best defenders isnt a starter!!!!

Impossible to have 4 world class center backs. Matip is the perfect squad player for us and at this level. He would start regularly for more than half the teams in the EPL.
He's covering well in the absence of Gomez so I'm a huge fan of his for what he is there to do for us.

I heard Fulham want him and why wouldn't they.

For us though, I'm glad we have him. I love how he can carry the ball from defense and as we're now playing possession football it's a great tool. The other CBs are also pretty good at carrying but Matip is right up there.

Great performance so what more could we ask for. Gomez gets injured & we still play with the same swagger & keeping a clean sheet.
